Re: Remington R51

I have one also and a Dangerco barrel. My Poseidon threaded right on. It works well. I tried my old Shadow 9 with a spacer to pick the booster and it did not cycle. Will try again another time. I like the pistol a lot. Apparently my pic with Poseidon mounted is too big to post here. https://i.imgur....

Re: Flying with a suppressor

I've since flown with suppressors for a pig hunt, 2 yrs ago. I shipped the guns. I put the cans with the ammo in checked baggage that locked, and don't recall if I declared the silencers but I may have said, "This bag contains ammo and silencers but no firearms". They didn't examine, to my...

Cool. I love compact cans. They don't make everyone say "Wow!" but they sure are handy.

Re: Quietest Host for Spectre II Shooting a Bulk Pack

All the free test data available leans toward the GSG but the amount of difference you're talking about averages less than 2dB or for all practical purposes identical. Some things I don't see in your list are capacity, modularity and maintainability. Once the giggles about how quiet it is wear off ...

Re: Quietest Host for Spectre II Shooting a Bulk Pack

Probably the GSG 5", b/c the barrel is longer, unless the round goes supersonic in the 5" barrel. You won't know that until you try that specific box/lot of ammo thru that specific gun. IMHO, it's a waste of O2 discussing it, as there won't be enough difference & I'd pick the gun you l...

Richard, how does your DeLisle sound next to your concentric integral Enfield? It looks like a DeLisle has lots more volume.

Re: Looking for powders for 9mm subs

I had trouble getting my Glock 17 to cycle using solo1000 over a 147 grain bullet without going way over the max published load data. (If that's important to you?) I'm currently using and like bullseye the best of anything I've tried. The solo1000 did work nicely when I "juiced" up the lo...

Re: 9mm sub recipes

I dunno. Scale it from 1.140, 1.145, 1.150?

4.2 gr of n320 sounds on the high side for starting loads, I would think 3.2 gr a better start spot.

Re: 9mm sub recipes

Faster powder that finishes the burn in the barrel is quieter than powder that is still burning as it exits, both with a silencer and without.

Wipe vs Wipe, which is mo betta

I have a 9mm Poseidon for a few years, & a .45 Poseidon is on the way. TM recommends 50A neoprene sheet, which I have. DeGroat recommends 80A neoprene sheet, which is harder. Anyone tried both, and have an opinion on which works best?

Re: Help me pick a dedicated home defense can

For an HD .45 pistol can, that is, one actually intended for HD use and NOT as an excuse, I'd want the shortest grease can possible. Probably a .45 Poseidon with grease. This is what adorns my nightstand hand gun in the hope it will provide some modest hearing protection until I can shoot my way to...

Re: Help me pick a dedicated home defense can

I like the idea of a grease can, but how long can I leave it sitting with grease or gel in it? Won't it eventually cake into a hard mass or evaporate? The gel will eventually dry, which is why i would use grease. The grease will not have a problem for a long time, if ever. Assuming it just sits for...

Re: If you started over which reloading set up?

A powder check die in a turret press is just silly IMO. Maybe. The silliness of it all may depend upon how much you load n shoot. Mistakes are going to happen. I've seen a few squibs from guys who load single stage and "Check each and every case with their own Mk 1 Mod 0 eyeballs". They a...

Re: If you started over which reloading set up?

Is there a reason that people tumble-or-ultrasound used brass BEFORE de-priming? Especially on a single-stage, why not deprime first in the hopes of cleaning primer pockets? I feel like there is something I'm missing... maybe just to avoid unnecessarily fouling of the press? Scratch dies, foul pres...

Re: If you started over which reloading set up?

Why are you lubing pistol cases? Why are you asking dumb questions? Easier to pull the handle. Yes, I have carbide dies. No, I am not a 95 lb weakling. Why skip the 550 unless your doing rifles? The 550 works great on pistol rounds also. Manual index. 4 Stations, so no powder check. All of the doub...

3.6 to 3.8 gr Solo100, 147 gr bullet. Fast-burning single based powder is quieter & cooler. 3.2 to 3.4 gr Solo100 with 158 Berry's.

Re: If you started over which reloading set up?

Well s--t. I saw the post below explaining mostly what I wanted to know. So how does this sound for a set up? 1) rock chucker to size and deprime 2) tumbler of some sort to clean 3) case prep center to trim then chamfer 4) dillon progressive for the loading. Still not sure what all needs to go with...

Re: Left hand threads to prevent loosening during use?

A bit late to the party. Back in '04 or so, hen Mark White still had his SoundTech web page of fascinating, somewhat rambling silencer discussions, I learned that LH threads won't loosen with std right-twist barrels, they would in fact be tightened slightly by the barrel movement. Full of knowledge,...

I did the same thing. Grabbed what I thought was a mag of green tips to test position of a compensator on a 3-gun rifle I had just sighted in with an Aimpoint H-1, chambered, BOOM! I had grabbed a mag of black tip Barnes 300 BLK. Same thing, blew the Aimpoint off, blew up the receiver & BCG, ble...
