Re: O1 FFL repair suppressor?

I am ONLY talking about silencers here and no other firearms. According to the ATF published NFA Handbook....... only an 07/02 can replace silencer parts. "Page176 NFA HANDBOOK" "A person who is licensed under the Gun Control Act (GCA) to manufacture firearms and who has paid the spec...

Re: Non-serviceable suppressor

It is a Griffin Armament M4SD. It doesn't list material in the specs other than, heat treated, high temp, corrosion resistant alloy. I'm shooting it on a Ruger American bolt action .223, and a 16" AR15. You need to call Griffin and ask them. If they say stainless steel then you can dip it. In ...

B/c once cut open, they are now each silencer parts needing serialization if they aren't contained as 1 unit. I was guessing based upon previous posts that you and others have made. You are the best Authority on ATF/NFA law here. You are definitely the Go-to Guy for Legal ?s. Hence, my Disclaimer. ...

Nickel brass for supers here. Thanks. Then you are all set! When did they start making nicle 458socom brass? I need to get me some! I noticed the nickel on black butterfly ammo at bang it ammo. Call Silencerco, they will tell you exactly what their product will handle. I started there, I'm not sure it's an official answer, but I was told subsonic would be fine from 10.5". Official min for supers is 16", but what I want to know is if I oops and run a super will it be catastrophic...

Re: Cheapest way to get accurate lead quantity tests on suppressor residue?

Only way to get an accurate measurement is to have the lead separated from the carbon and other buildups.

This is not a cheap process and on top of that you are needing it done on 6 different samples.

600 pounds for that is not that bad a price considering.

Re: How about another 50 BMG build

No one else has mentioned your design, so I will. 1- That's a lot of unharnessed blast chamber. You could add a couple of cones just in there. Unless you're intending to use a muzzlebrake, there aren't any obstructions to redirect the gas jet off of Boreline. 2- Instead of scooping the 1st baffle, ...

Re: Wood Baffle Parts Making Need To Be A SOT?

Cutaway silencers even if they are non functional are still classified as silencer. As far as the ATF is concerned they are just really poor performing silencers. If I had a stamp to make a F1 suppressor, and after making the suppressor decided to cut in in half to look at the inside, would I still...

Re: Wood Baffle Parts Making Need To Be A SOT?

Bender has commented, several times, that cutaways are still silencers. Cut slits in the sides (like an Omega) and no longer serviceable as a "part." (W/o substantial modification. Just like flat washers.) I wonder how the tone would be affected if the baffles were made of wood. LavaRed s...

Depends on when the M99 was made, old ones had 3/4-20 and newer ones have 3/4-24. You can call Barrett and they will tell you what you have if you haven't/can't gage the threads yourself.

I saw the YouTube videos, and they seemed pretty quiet - I sent them an email asking about the baffles unscrewing when they heat up, and they claim it's not a problem. As far as why it's so cheap, their explanation is that making a part like that with a CNC mill and aluminum is actually very cheap,...

Will you bump into the ATF while transporting your NFA item? Most likely never, but, as stated above, the burden of proof usually lies w/ the accused. Most likely you won't however local cops know how to call the ATF and make a big huge headache for guys not showing the forms to the cops. Remember,...

Re: Change of Address While Form 4 Pending

Been down this road MANY MANY times. You don't LEGALLY own the item until the 4473 is completed. Until that 4473 has been completed the trust only has financial interest in it and ZERO ownership. Until the 4473 is filed a Form4 is basically the permission slip for the SOT to conduct the 4473 transf...
