Re: Aluminum-Safe Solvents?
Absolutely do not use simple green to clean anything made of aluminum. I learned this the hard hard way once when I soaked a set of aluminum pistons from and engine I was rebuilding in some simple green overnight. They were dissolved and the metal was ruined. You aren't kidding! Simple Green makes ...

I guess I need to put up some photos of mine. The upper is going on another SBR lower, the lower is going to be my CMP Service Rifle.

Re: "Custom" suppressor height sights?
Dawson's sights are usually pretty tall at around .200". You might call them and see if they're familiar with the model, or willing to do an install. Most any competent gunsmith should be able to find something close and fit them. https://dawsonprecision.com/gun-sights/browning-sights/?_bc_fsnf...

Re: Ordered a Rugged Suppressors Obsidian 45 today
I tried to buy one before the July rules went into affect, but my local dealer was price gouging that week. I called back on July 14th and he still had it...not that I would ever do business with him, again.

Christmas Cheer Upper Assembly
After many years of trying to decide what I wanted to do with my Christmas Cheer parts, I finally submitted my Form 1 and got the approval yesterday. Since there aren't a lot of recent posts here, I thought I better check to see if anyone reputable is still assembling URXs for a reasonable rate? I'd...

Re: AAC "Military" Cans
I don't have any additional insight about the website, but it would make sense that the SCAR designated suppressors be dropped, as I don't see that thing lasting much longer. Most have been turned back in. I'm happily using my issued M4-2000 still.

I've been trying to figure out whether I can get my AAC Omni on this thing or not. I'm not sure if there is going to be enough clearance...wish I had a 12.5" or carbine rail.

Fired my first Mk17 today.
We don't issue the FN, but a sister unit has them. Shot great; all of us that shot it were very impressed. The unit carrying them has mixed opinions of them, though, and plan to drop them in the near future. I didn't bother to waste M118 rounds on auto.

Re: Completed Christmas Cheer Builds
Thanks for the photos. I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to do with my build. I have all of the Christmas Cheer parts, but the long rail with the 11.5" barrel doesn't work for my 5.56mm suppressor/mount (AAC Omni). I hate to break up the set, but may use the rail on a different upper and ...

My buddy is a Scout-Sniper Plt. Commander (S-2) and former enlisted 03, himself, and just told me all the KACs in the platoon were taken out of service indefinitely for reliability problems.

Re: Integral Suppress Bolt Action
I'd love to see some photos of your setup, if you can post them. It doesn't have to be a bolt gun, but I really want to do it as an integral rather than a muzzle can, which is one of the limiting factors to action type.

Re: Integral Suppress Bolt Action
I haven't had any luck finding 300gr. .338 lead bullets or moulds, and that is a major factor in which caliber I build. I looked at the .308 subsonic, but essentially, it is a 180gr. .40S&W when you're done with it, so I need something to launch a heavy enough bullet right at the speed of sound....

Re: Integral Suppress Bolt Action
I've got a 96/44 (lever action) that I plan on building an internal suppressor around eventually. I'm casting these 300gr monsters for it (and my handguns). They really do pack a punch. http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j154/L1A1Rocker/HPIM0598.jpg Those look great. Where did you get your mould? I'...

Re: Integral Suppress Bolt Action
Consider a .45 integral from SIA? I load 230 gr XTP at 1,000 fps, and if you use .45 Super brass may be able to make or buy .45 Super loads like Buffalo Bore's 255 flat nose leads at 1075 to 1100 fps. http://www.hunt101.com/data/500/CIMG3344.JPG I keep checking back, and it looks like they aren't f...

Re: Integral Suppress Bolt Action
I'm sure it has some knockdown power! I just really want a bolt gun, though. I have considered the .458 SOCOM, but haven't found much info on its use in bolt rifles.

Re: Integral Suppress Bolt Action
I'm really starting to lean towards a .338 Federal with 300gr. hard cast lead bullets. Seems like a pretty economical route since I could also fire factory loads if needed. I wonder why all the companies charge a premium to suppress a subsonic rifle over a subsonic pistol caliber rifle?

Re: Colt single action .22
I've got a few, myself. They shoot very well, and are a lot of fun. The only benefit I can see to the Ruger is the transfer bar safety so they can be carried with six rounds.
