Re: Another K-baffle design
There is nothing magical about 60° cones on K baffles. In fact I found the necessarily longer baffles with that cone angle were louder than shorter K baffles with 45° cone angles on both air and rimfire. By a wide margin. The flatter the angle the less strength you will have against collapse. Airgu...

Re: Inconel Baffle Insert
Given the thickness of a baffle inversely affects the performance of the baffle I would avoid doing it. Also the weight difference between going with and entire Inconel baffle and a Ti baffle with an insert I would go with the Inconel baffle.

Re: Families sued Cinemark over July 2012 Batman shooting--and lost, now they pay
I'm sure the lawyers took the case pro bono with the full knowledge that if it was a win they would have made their 40% of a multi million dollar settlement/judgement. They also knew that if they lost they would only be out their own legal expenses and the clients would be on the hook for a large am...

Every thing you wanted to know about the Stoner 63a
This video took way longer than I expected it to but when you start with the Stoner 63A as a subject well it gets quickly out of hand.

Re: "The Expanse" If you like SciFi
I have them on DVR. I have not watched them yet since I seem to have to get in the mood to watch TV which seems pretty rare for me these days. On top of that I have a good back log of scifi books I am reading with a bunch of new authors that I am enjoying.

I eventually will get more pictures done but it will take a while. Comcast scragged all webpages so mine died but will be rebuilt much better with better pictures and videos.

Re: Remote rifle
Might want to be real careful because according to ATF you are approaching the easily converted to full auto by using a semi auto rifle with electronic triggering. All that it would take is a simple pulse modulator on the trigger servo and it would be a machine gun. No machining required.

Re: SHOT SHOW 2015 5.56 Suppressed Bolt Carrier
Looking at the machining on the bolt carrier is should be lighter not heavier unless the tail is solid. The slight fluting and diameter reduction will decrease weight. It looks to me like they are limiting the amount of gas that gets to the piston via throttling the gas at a valve in the carrier. I ...

Re: Do Digital Sound Meters meet testing requirements?
I always wondered about designing suppressor muzzles to spoof the mil std test into yielding lower numbers by directionally controlling the sound impulse. You could make a suppressor sound quieter in testing yet actually be much louder to down range observers. I guess it comes down determining the g...

Every time I push the "my post" link or the "new post link" I get "array" for an answer and the it will not do their function. This also happens with the search feature. When I bring up this board and neither of those work I just leave and this is why I don't bother to ...

Re: My vault door project...
Looking at the design of the locking lugs I suggest scrapping the door and get one designed by professionals. It looks like that design of the locking bar is s--t at best from your picture. If the lugs are independent like shown in your picture plus given that they are at variety of angles that do n...

Re: Does baffle thickness have an effect
Yes it can make a huge effect on the baffle's performance. Edge effects of thin vs thick orifices are well known and understood in fluid dynamics. Thinner the plate in an orifice the larger the pressure drop across it. Suppressors main mechanic of operation is pressure drop across baffles thus inhi...

Re: spacer thickness
I would stay away from aluminum for spacers in a centerfire rifle suppressor. Another issue that you need to account for when designing a suppressor is thermal expansion. If you are using a stainless steel outer tube and aluminum tubing spacers the spacers will grow in length more rapidly than the s...
