Re: shortest threaded Ruger MKIII?
that is pile of great looking rigs. I went with the factory threaded Ruger. Works well but I know I will end up firing up the lathe and cutting and threading it someday. I seem to not leave anything alone.

Well just killed all collector value to my Remington nylon66
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a346/moj_jimmy/IMG-20120105-00155-1.jpg ......... and I am fine with that. I got this rifle 30 years ago in 1981 when I was 6. It was a birthday gift from my father. I remember that green box under the wrapping paper, talk about excitement. I did a bit of math last...

Re: Red dot on FNC
I have an aimpoint R1 on my FNC. I did use a primary arms dot as a stop gap one session. It worked but point of aim moved a bit. I say stick with the good optics for the FA guns.

22/45 as a can host how short can I get the barrel to be?
I have not had a 22 handgun in a long time. I have another 22 can incoming and would like to shoot it on a handgun. If I pick up a run of the mill ruger 22/45 how short can I get the barrel and still have it function. Yes I know all about concentricity and such in my machining work. I dont care abou...

Re: Threading a Remington Nylon 66 Questions
I just sent my remmy barrel off to be threaded.
Great minds think alike. It was my first rifle and it has taken me 30 years to get a can on it.

Paul Job well done.
I think your setup is great and dont sweat the hate.
Now I was only paid to machine things for a living for 2 years and I know that many salty crusts have better ways to do s--t. But if it is stupid and it works, it IS NOT STUPID!
thanks

Re: using jam nuts w/screw on suppresors to stay in place
It would work as long as the outside of the barrel is aligned with the bore. The bore doesn't always come out exactly in the center of the barrel. Most of us don't have good enough eyes to see a difference of .010 or .020 but that could be enough to cause a baffle strike. When barrels are threaded ...

using jam nuts w/screw on suppresors to stay in place
I am waiting for a form 1 to come in soon and I have thought about threading my barrels. This got me to thinking. Would it be bad to extend the threading a bit in length to accommodate a jam nut of some nature. Figuring that the rear of the can is square could it hurt? fabricating a jam nut should n...

Re: 762 tok M11 slowfire project (now with lathe pics)
Ran 450 rounds through it. I did have 10 small hickups the first few mags. After taking it apart and double checking anything for problems. I reassemble it and douche it down with mobile 1. Bam, it all works perfect no problems. I tried the 9mm upper I have just for the hell of it. It worked just as...

Re: why is turning threads on centers bad?
Ok gotcha, I really dont like my 4 jaw and it seems to develop "play" when used. But until I figure it out and fix it I can turn between centers. But Hey I got it free so I cant complain at all really. I have been told by a few "gunsmiths" that the centers is a bad idea. Plus I j...

why is turning threads on centers bad?
Please explain to me a concentricity noob why this is a bad idea. Does it have to do with the possible play in a live center throwing it off true?

Re: 762 tok M11 slowfire project
Well small update: I was able to make it out to the garage for a few hours. Since my M11 came back to me without a bolt since it was TASK Slowfire converted and the parts were sold off years ago by my bud. I bought a new bolt and since the new variety has no through hole removable Firing pin. So I h...
