Re: 300blk blast chamber size (I searched)
What caliber? Subs or supers? What length can are you hoping to use? Diameter? Is this can dedicated to this gun, caliber, purpose? 300blk. 9" long x 1.375 ID. Subs only. Direct thread to a Ruger American bolt gun. Purpose is to toss 208gr Horndady ELDs as quietly and accurately as possible up t...

300blk blast chamber size (I searched)
Hello again. After my successful 300blk can I made for my AR15 I want to make another for my Ruger bolt gun. This time around I think I'm going to "cheat" and use a pre-made tube and cups. From the options that are out there I see the first "cup" is very close to the muzzle. I co...

Re: New lathe purchase, is this enough?
That's about the size of my Grizzly lathe. I've made 3 suppressor and 10,000 other things with it. Best piece of equipment I've bought in a while

Re: How effective would this design be?
Give it a try. A lot of folks here told me my 300blk design wouldn't work well. Turns out it's Hollywood quiet with subsonic 208gr AMAX. Did you ever make any changes/add features, or keep your can as you presented it? I remember you saying there's a lot of FRP. Wondering if you ever tamed it down?...

Re: Slowing down "standard velocity" 22LR
Yes. Just like that. But I'm dealing with an 18" barrel so i think I would need much less than 4x 5mm holes.Artful wrote:You mean like this design with just one hole?

Slowing down "standard velocity" 22LR
I once read that there was a feature designed into an integral pistol that slowed down standard velocity 22 to subsonic levels. I think there was a port drilled in the barrel that bled pressure off into the tube. I don't remember the port size but I think it was 1.250" from the bolt face. I hav...

Re: 45 ACP K baffle help
I don't have a mill. Only a drill press. I'm going to make a 45* angle jig that I can mount my 4-jaw chuck to then bolt the whole thing to the press.
What is your method or process?

45 ACP K baffle help
I did a search here (using Google) and didn't come up with anything. What diameter end mill is best for the mouse holes on a 45ACP K baffle? I found that a .500" bore is commonly used for 45.

Re: cutting threads question
I do this Tube ID + .01 (.005 a side) + 2(.868 * TPI) = Cap OD. I skim (bore) the ID .005, a side, to make baffle entry a bit easier. Example: 1.5" x .065 Tubing 1.5-.065-.065=1.37ID 1.37 + .01 + 2(.868 * 1/24) = 1.452 for OD of Cap If you do it this way, you can make ONE cap first. Use this a...

I'm a novice machinist. How did you cut titanium with the pictured tool? I've been trying to make 60* cones out of 316SS and it takes FOREVER.

Re: And so it begins.......
Sounds great. I too recently bought my first lathe. I also built a 300blk can and I'm really happy with it. It could use some improvement but the amount of knowledge here has helped me along. BTW I've been lurking on this forum for a few years and everyone seems to love a good monocore build :) Good...

Re: 300BLK M-baffle build
I got out to the range today. I have a friend with an 300BLK AR pistol and a brand new 30cal Saker. We shot quite a few times side by side as a yard-stick to my F1 build. Mine has a hell of an FRP but quickly quiets down. Have a look....

I like the idea too. Sorry I don't have much technical advice. I would think your idea would work. I have a 10.5" SBR and ANY suppression would be nice

Re: 300BLK M-baffle build
Thanks for your input CMV. At the end you mentioned a 60* chamfer. Im guessing that you suggest I make 60* cones and nest them into this chamfer? Sorry I sound so green. Most of my experience with making things is from the automotive world. Roll cages and steering systems are tape measure and cut to...

Re: 300BLK M-baffle build
I wasn't sure about clipping. No big deal to go back and add later.
Do cone baffles work better for this application? If it's too loud I suppose I could add cones too. Would aluminum cones work? Or would I need to use 316?
Thanks for all your input!

300BLK M-baffle build
It's been a few years but I found my way back. I'd been sitting on a Form 1 but never had the chance to build the can. I bought a Grizzly G0768 lathe and decided it was time to have a go at it. Two of my close friends are machinists so after they ribbed me a little for buying a chinese lathe they of...
