Re: 223 step cone baffle

One quick comment on the brake / can adapter. I noticed you've got a raised flange on the back end of it. That can be eliminated if the can "bottoms out" on the end of the brake at the centralizer baffle. Of course that wouldnt leave you a shoulder should you require a thread protector on ...

Wasn't aware of the need to sleeve the cones with Al. Makes sense, but that seems like more trouble than it's worth. I'll go stainless and not worry about it.
Thanks!

Man, I love this site. Great feedback from knowledgable people.
I'm single point cutting on my lathe, so I could vertainly cut a 70% depth. Prob a great idea.
Anybody want to weigh in on the 6061-Al k's?

Thanks for the input guys! Well, 28tpi it is. With regard to the Aluminum, I was looking at 6 or 7 k-baffles with the last 4 or so being 6061 aluminum. The worst duty this would see would be in carbine matches on a 16" ar-10. 150 rds fired in an hour or so. Maybe 30 in a stage... they'd be fire...

Looks like 28tpi will still only leave me .0185 thickness. Is a finer thread going to be strong enough? Or should I look at thicker tubing?

tubing thickness vs. thread pitch

Gentlemen, I'm looking at some 1.5" x .065 wall 304ss tubing for a 308 can. Is this thick enough to thread with 24 tpi for endcaps and maintain strength? any suggestions on optimal thread pitch or tubing thickness? this can will see bolt action and semi auto use. also, what about aluminum for t...

Which stainless? I'm looking at a 30 cal can for use on a 16" 308 (AR-10) and possible use on a 16" 223 as well.
304ss, 1.5" x .065 wall x 8" sound reasonable?

Question: Form 1, 4a, for a Trust

Gentleman, I didn't get any bites over in Silencersmithing, so I thought I'd try over here. I'm filling out my first Form 1 for my trust, and I've got a questions regarding block 4a: -Who is the manufacturer of the silencer? Me, or my trust? -Should it read: John Doe Anytown, USA or, John Doe, Trust...
