Re: Best way to clean aluminum baffles?
Well I just ordered a gallon of the aircraft grade aluminum safe Simple Green. I'll let you know how it works. I hope it works as well. Granger sells lite oils or you can use ATF, power steering fluid, Power brake oil at higher cost. WD-40 is very cheap by the gallon though I have never used it for...

Re: Best way to clean aluminum baffles?
A trick we used in service was dropping suppressors in lite hydraulic oil after shooting and before cleaning. It keeps the carbon soft so you can brush it off. A mixture of 50% simple green & water heated, works well for all gun parts. Parts are only dipped for a few minutes not soaked for hours. Si...

Re: Baffle K and M Type and Length observations
I don't agree across the board. The K type baffle is the most difficult to build yet even in its original form provides more suppression per baffle than any other to date. As for tone the AWC Thundertrap in 308 is still legend for its unique low tone using the K type baffle. Stating a 10" tube is op...

https://i.imgur.com/lKY0ydT.jpg This may cause you some difficulty in alignment, gas sealing suppressor attachment etc. 1) Cut the flash cage off and thread it internally. Single point thread the muzzle w/a shoulder. Mount the sight tower to barrel. Screw the flash hider cage on for non suppressor ...

Re: Guidance on De Lisle build
I don't think the AP core ever comes in contact with the barrel to size or "BALL" a bore to spec. The bullet jackets may be thicker or or softer than standard ammo to help a initial polish. I wonder if he also dipped the bullets in grease. (a common practice) A technique known as lapping to gain a c...

Re: Guidance on De Lisle build
While you may be confident on printing baffles if you are wrong the cost is another tax stamp to fix it. You can do much better than tie rods as that was the glitch in accuracy of the original.Timing is not a problem if you build a coaxial design with a eccentric outer tube. Tension of the barrel/su...

The C02 suppressor used a cylinder that was about a foot long with a cyclic rate of over 1000 rpm.The tester was wearing a thermal suit to prevent burns. The tests were positive but they went in a different direction.I have little doubt they could loose most of the suit and shrink the bottle size "ma...

Re: Silencer material comparison, weight vs strength
A great trip down memory lane indeed. I wonder if anyone used the idea of Nikasil plating on aluminum....who thought that up! 8) fighterjet1995 welcome. Unfortunately the suppliers listed do not sell small quantities.Often for a single suppressor only a cutting may be needed. Its best to ask for mate...

KAC has been a supplier for spec op troops for many years now. I would be confident that they meet any spec said. This is not NASA where the lowest bid wins the equipment is top drawer.

Long time fan of Elmer and his innovations. The Keith design bullet has many advantages. The grease grooves are deep allowing loading of un-sized bullets without high pressure. They also hold plenty of lube of various types.Designs that feature gas checks make for attainable high velocity without melti...

Re: Turning down Gr. 9 Ti Tube Wall Thickness
I read the post and think you should try to make the spacers yourself. He mentions using a mandrel, what if you were to turn and bore to reach the thickness you wish. What if you made each spacer one at a time using the thicker tube to hold the form before you cut it off.Maybe you need to normalize the...

Re: First suppressor, advice picking one
Hi. I am new to the suppressor world and excited to get in. But before I can submit my tax stamp, I have to pick out what I am going to get. I have a AR in 223 and another in 300blk. I am getting the suppressor mainly for the 300blk and planning on shooting subs with it. However it would be sweet t...

I've never seen that design before, let alone how to make one of my own lol. I'm assuming it's basically a ported stack with a "second" tube over top? Yes more or less. Its a sub-machine suppressor that separates high pressure hi temperature gases from lower one's and allows them to expand & cool b...

Re: 7075 tube
Aluminum 6061 tubing will be fine as a pressure tube, its rare to find 7075 as tubing. Using 7075 for end caps and baffles would be a good idea though 6061 can be used. You should look into surface finishes to protect the aluminum from corrosion. You can use home anodizing ,paint or epoxy type finish...

Thanks a lot I guess you are speaking of Stellite 6 coating over inconel ? I'm fairly sure it wil...

Re: Novel EU Baffle Design
If I remember correctly, until it got hot and dirty the pattern was like a .410 with an extra full choke. Then it would suddenly throw fliers. Then it progressed to patterns several feet wide at 50 yards. It was an ambitious project for a new lathe owner and someone that never soldered or welded an...

Good Captian, I continually marvel at your innovativeness and enviable machining skills. Best, Brother. Lumpy was not designed or made by me, but by another skilled member. I have made multi purpose suppressors for decades. Overweight designs work well as a Shillelagh when the ammo runs out or poss...
