Re: Baffle orientation
what effect does baffle spacing have on higher port pressures? Closer spacing raises port pressure. Previous ports allow more gas pressure on the next port inline. Wide spacing lowers downstream pressures due to cooling and expansion. Think about this : normal practice is ported cone baffles with a...

Baffle orientation
Its often asked if ports should be aligned. Yes ported cone and K baffle should. The reason is asymmetric port flow reinforcement in a reducing pressure environment. Each baffle in turn strips high pressure gas where the port or clip allows a stream of gas to move forward adding to higher pressure p...

Re: Stagger-sway suppressor
I have never made a investment in the finer details of the Nielsen but can make a working model. First keep in mind the bullet has left the suppressor before the suppressor body is pushed away from the pistol. The piston keeps the suppressor body centered having contact points front and rear. The pi...

Re: Subsonic 45-70 from 10mm rated 45 pistol can
45 acp 410 grain @ ~ 750fps out of a 5-inch barrel. That will put some swing in your dingaling. There are powder burn differences between rifle vs pistol power and you will have to deal with a higher volume powder in the short .45 acp suppressor plus possible threading issues, but it might work wel...

Re: 1st 300 Blackout design
To the OP: I know you have some concerns about a baffle being damaged ,however this almost never happens. I started building back in 82 and in all that time I had one major fail. A knucklehead used a uber light experimental suppressor on a belt fed machine-gun. After nearly a full belt It suffered f...

Re: What is considered a suppressor part
I want to build a reflex can like a OPS Inc that is on the Mk12 mod 0 I also want to be able to use it on my SBR with a 12" barrel. To do that i would have 2 seperate endcaps to mount the can. Would the endcap be considered another suppressor. You can't have multiple end caps but you can have ...

Re: .22 LR barrel porting.
I would start with the smallest size until you reach your desired speed. Nobody can give you an exact size as chambers very as do barrels. The old saying of the devil is in the details apply. Make sure you do not cut into the chamber or the lands center it in the throat.

Re: .22 LR barrel porting.
I want to port a .22 LR barrel to keep high velocity .22LR rounds subsonic. I understand the "it will ruin your gun" "don't do it". Just looking for some good advice. I do not have access to an EDM but I do have access to milling machines. Has anyone here tried porting before? H...

Re: UGH! Trying to indicate a barrell
Not true integral since the barrel won't be ported. But the tube will mimic the look of a bull barrel. Anyway, I'm mounting the receiver and barrel in a Viper fixture so I can thread the barrel. I keep fighting myself mixing up inboard and outboard screws while adjusting. Just taking a break and ha...

Re: Another project completed (pistol and can)
The Stechkin is a personal favorite of mine. I have only seen one that included stock and suppressor. The velocity control porting is wonder of engineering, care to duplicate it along with the eccentric suppressor of modern construction. It would be a huge job that I doubt the client will pay for, b...

Re: .300BO Keyholing With Different Sized Cans
Some more data. I have no issues with the can on my .308 or 5.56 rifles. Ran an alignment through the BO with the can attached. The rod was close to the 6 O'clock position at the endcap but no contact. I took the muzzle device off and installed it on another BO pistol with similar results. My assum...

Hey guy nice to see you post. I know your work is above reproach so lets cut to the chase. The chances are the bore passage is to tight. Open up the muzzle cap and if that dose not work the baffles are next.

Re: .300BO Keyholing With Different Sized Cans
If both of these suppressors perform without problem on other guns then the problem is the rifle. A minor misalignment of the mounting is the cause. Only a baffle strike or a near one will cause these issues.

Re: Thinking about #2 already...
Suppressing a rotating barrel vs a tilt one brings up some interesting thoughts about boosters or Nielsen devices. Weight of the suppressor would still be a factor in the locking and unlocking of a rotating body. A quasi Nielsen device could be designed for a rotating barrel to "unload" it...

Re: POI shift?
POI is always consistent once suppressor is seated. It may change slightly if the suppressor is removed and replaced. All suppressors will change the POI because of weight alone, some exhibit greater shift because of baffle design.Asymmetrical baffles often have the greatest shift with the largest p...

The Dead Air Nomad's dimensions are 6.500 x 1.735 @ 14.5 oz with welded construction. You could measure the welds to determine spacing of baffles. Trash Panda is 6.91 x 1.75 @ 11.8 + 2oz for cherry bomb. It uses 9 baffles. Reading the available information on the DA-Nomad it appears to use individua...

Re: Micro-Ports
I have been contemplating the physics of drilling very small ports ( Tiny wire drill sizes) in a .22 LR/Short rifle barrel. For the sake of discussion, lets say its a bolt or other closed action firearm with no breech gas leakage. The idea being to bleed off gas after the projectile reaches a minim...
