Humble thanks to Surefire

I just wanted to offer a simple and humble thanks to the folks at Surefire for delivering the best possible product with my FA556-212. After waiting on the Form 3 from CA to OH (2 months), and almost 5 months for the Form 4 approval (on an LLC no less), I picked my can up this week and got it to the...

Re: Form 4 approvals

Form 4 on an LLC, and 120+ days and waiting since it went pending...

Update: It was approved June 25th and the stamp was at my dealer the 29th. Checking the NFATracker, it seemed like the LLC took almost as long as an individual, but hey, that damn thing is in hand now and shoots the same POI!

MB556 brake - shoot it or sell it?

So my FA556-212 is in jail after the long wait on the Form3, but I have my grubby paws on the MB556 brake it came with. I was figuring on putting this on my SPR-build, but I'm wondering at this point if I shouldn't just use one of the -212A's I bought and sell the brake. Does the brake make an appre...

Re: 5.56 Can Advice

cyclone72, yeah, that's the one; flat dark earth FA556-212. The way I'm looking at it is for $800 I get the SF and a muzzlebreak, for $550 the 556-SD and 2/2.5 muzzle attachments. So at the end of the day I'm choosing between 2 legacy cans (the 556-SD is based on the old M4-2000 design), it's like a...

5.56 Can Advice

I've been looking at getting another can (bought a 30P-1 few years back) and have settled on buying a 5.56 can, and while I had one in mind, seeing a great price on the FA556-212 added a new spin on this. I've read, and read, and re-read various posts across the net comparing cans, and I'm going to ...

POI shift different between calibers?

I posted this over on the 300Blk board as well, but wanted to check with a wider audience. After I picked up my DD M4V5 upper in 300Blk, I took it out to the range and mounted my 30P-1 on it while I was testing some hand-loads. I had loaded up 6 sets of 10 rounds of 125 MTK (supersonic) to check fun...

Re: Subsonic Reloading Manual?

Sounds like you could gather, test and publish said book......I'd buy a copy since I'm thinking I'll get in the reloading game sooner rather than later now that I'm starting to get close to having cans get their final approval. The thought has crossed my mind. I'm actually thinking of something els...

Re: Subsonic Reloading Manual?

Thanks for all the feedback. I actually own a ProChrono, and I agree it's an essential tool for reloading, regardless of sub or supersonic loads. Reloading manuals give you their figures based on a test rifle with x barrel length, which typically doesn't match what I'm loading for, so the chrono get...

Subsonic Reloading Manual?

I googled this a bit expecting to find something but it all seemed to come up as folks looking for load data, which seems to be sporadic. Is there anything available that serves as a reloading manual for subsonic loads, like a typical reloading manual is set up? Like I said, I keep finding individua...

Re: Picked up my can!

Thanks Bendersquint, that makes complete sense. Wahnsinn, that's what the guy at the dealer told me as well, I just thought that sounded like BS, because if they're not doing as thorough a check on me because I'm using an LLC, why does it seem to take as long for an approval as an individual does? L...

Picked up my can!

Well, the longer I live the more I believe in karma. I took the wife car shopping for something "sport and fun" the past few days, and while we didn't pick anything up, when we got home last night I had a call on the answering machine that my Form 4 had come in! Wife looked at me and knew ...

Re: Shotgun suppressor/barrel combo

Sorry, I tend to assume everyone knows about Hushpower already. Yes, they appear to work well enough for the intended purpose but some on this side of the pond may argue the technology is inferior or inadequate. Should I assume you haven't seen Tit's shotgun suppressor either? No, I've seen that be...

Re: Shotgun suppressor/barrel combo

Best head off to the gym. That muzzle weight torque moment is not gonna be conducive to long aiming times. As opposed to the alternatives, i.e. the metro barrel which adds another 3 feet to your shotgun? I don't know about you guys, but I could handle the extra weight of a shroud without having to ...

Re: Shotgun suppressor/barrel combo

Thanks for that link man, as I checked the video out, looked at their site, and found they have plenty of options. In fact, they have the shrouded barrels for the 500, although they sell it as a complete shotgun, and of course they're overseas. But, it's obvious they have this working well enough to...

Re: Shotgun suppressor/barrel combo

Just because it isn't publicized doesn't mean noone is on top of it! ;) Shotgun suppressor is quite a bit more difficult than a conventional muzzle can. There is alot more to it than simply drilling holes in a barrel and welding a fender washer as a baffle. That's good to hear, and I'm definitely i...

Re: Shotgun suppressor/barrel combo

I wonder how much clearance would be needed for a full shroud to be effective. Seems like fitting a 28ga barrel into a 12ga tube would look pretty sleek but I know the caliber wouldn't appeal to everyone. If there was a "kit" to convert a 12ga to a 28ga suppressed that seems sort of inter...

Re: Shotgun suppressor/barrel combo

Titsworth was making noise a while back about supposedly working on commercializing shotgun suppressors but either the thread died or I just lost track of it. Yeah, I saw that thread earlier and didn't see anything more about it. I was thinking about sending a barrel off to someone and having them ...

Re: Shoot it or wait?

Shoot it but I don't understand how you could sell it used if you're not approved since you won't legally own it. Are you saying if you're not approved the dealer will hold on to your money until he sells the item? The way I understand it is I own it, by way of having purchased it, but I can't lega...

Re: Thread on can: Best way to keep it from unscrewing

So you just apply the blue loctite to the threads, and let it set without the can on, so the can snugs up on the dried loctite? Sorry if that's a stupid question, but if I'm using thee can on multiple hosts, just wanted to make sure that's what you meant. Yes i put a drop of blue loctite on and let...

Shotgun suppressor/barrel combo

I've been thinking more and more about the manufacture of suppressor/barrel combinations for pump and semi-auto shotguns lately, as I'd like to find a way to approach farmers about shooting the flocks of starlings you see every winter around the cattle and grain farms. Having a suppressed shotgun wo...

Tech branch told me that if i put a plastic airsoft silencer on a 2r that it needs to he registered and even possession of a removable silencer for an airsoft and a gun that could accept it can make for a bad day. Re: ATF Rul. 2005-4 ... Performed Search: Found Nothing

Also keep in mind that even if it is made for an airgun or airsoft and it is capable of being used on a firearm then thats hot water. That is why the GAMO and others are permanent to the barrel, you can't remove them because if you could they would work on firearms, and I might add they are pretty ...

Re: Shoot it or wait?

If you know 100% that you would pass any kind of background check, then there should be no worries to shoot it while you wait. Heck the waiting period is actually incentive for people to behave for the next 6+ months lol. And it's probably a sure bet that NFA items wont be specifically targeted in ...
