Re: Rugged Oculus vs Dead Air Mask (Metered)

I only recommend A weighting because it's what the industry uses. Z weighting I believe is what tells the most truth.

It's still really difficult to compare apples to apples regardless since every manufacturer has their own guns and ammo they run, but A to A get's you a little closer.

Re: Rugged Oculus vs Dead Air Mask (Metered)

Are you using Z weighting? Those numbers should be lower. I have the same meter, I haven't metered those cans but my best can meters around 113db with CCI SV. Sico Spectre 2 meters 113-115 as well. Everyone has such great things to say about the mask, I find it surprising it's over 120db, I need to ...

Re: To clip or not to clip, that is the question

It wouldn't be a hard thing to test - clip all but one, then try the unclipped baffle in the first and last to see how your POI shifts. If it doesn't shift much clip the last one.

You guys are over thinking this whole thing, just mill some soft jaws with your cores outside diameter and clamp it with about 10ft-lbs of torque.

Re: 300 blk coaxial build almost done -- Range Report.

300blk isn't that quiet, especially on an AR. That can looks like its 1.5"x6", I wouldn't be surprised if its around 140db. People often say its mouse fart quiet, but even with a big specwar on a 10.5" AR, its still pretty loud. Your clips are about as big as I'd go the way you're doi...

Re: Reflex Suppressor Db testing

gonna need a different meter for useful data. The sampling rate isn't high enough and it has a maximum of 130db. its extremely unlikely that you're under 130db on a 5.56

Just needs a piece of 1/8" thick metal bar to take it down, fits in the front cap slots. Always wear gloves, the end caps will rip your hands up.

Omega 9k advertises those numbers, but in real life, I doubt it, Capitol Armory has a video showing over 140DB with Silencerco ammo on an AR and 138 on a bolt gun

Re: Need help from experianced minds

3/8" is way too small for a 9mm suppressor. .410 is about right, you should take it apart to clean it out and make sure everything is aligned. Maybe your booster housing isn't aligned to the rest of the can?

Awesome video, I've been looking for one that showed it this clearly for a while. What I find interesting, is it looks like the barrel and slide are unlocked at the point the bullet exits the suppressor.

Re: How can I turn an A2 FSB into an adjustable gas block?

Not enough meat in a standard A2 gas block but ones that do have the meat, I drill and tap 6-32 thread into the port just above the barrel, its .295" forward from the shoulder and .500" from the centerline of the barrel, install set screw. Here are some examples to look at. http://www.rain...

It happens on every forum.

As time goes on, every forum progresses towards this, the veteran members get sick of the same old questions and start to get grumpy. When it gets popular, you get inundated by n00bs and it gets even worse.

has anyone done any research on Type III or Hardcoat anodizing? I haven't spent a lot of time looking into the process but most of what I design gets hard coat anodized.
