Re: Volume vs performance

Sound suppression is far more than simply the internal volume of the can. That is only 1 part of it.

Off the top of my head, the Delisle and Sionics mac cans are both large diameter and sound good. But there is a lot more involved than just how big the cans are.

Re: Serial number on silencer

I've used tarheestatefirearms for many of my engravings. While I don't pretend to know whether they use argon for shielding or not, I can honestly say all of the engravings they have done on Titanium has been just fine going back at least 6 years now.

But, what-ev's.

Re: Form 1 Maker when is it officially made?

I have came to the conclusion over the years from reading this so many times; every time I hear someone is ask this question, is because they want to do something that they know they shouldn't be doing and are looking for ways around the law and loop holes.

There are no loop holes in this.

Re: Anyone have copy of delisle blueprints/

No.

I had intended to pin/weld the suppressor support piece I was going to make to the end of the barrel. And also the long bolts that goes through the suppressor support was going to be welded to it in order to bring it to the minimum length.

Re: Anyone have copy of delisle blueprints/

Thank you for the detailed reply Capt. Link. I will take it into consideration. It would make it more simple to do a monocore internal. Though I don't really know if there is a monocore out there that does well with 45acp. I guess I should try to do some research. I haven't really looked at 45acp mo...

Re: Anyone have copy of delisle blueprints/

Thank you for the reply. Here's how I intended to do the barrel and caps and stuff. The rear endcap will be threaded 1"-14 and threaded onto the barrel at the receiver. The factory conversion barrel nut will tighten down to it. Thus acting basically as a jam nut or lock nut. I may also blind pi...

Re: Anyone have copy of delisle blueprints/

Capt. Link, do you care to expand on what problems were determined in the originals so I can try to avoid that? I won't be copying it bolt for bolt and thread pitch. Though I was wanting to build the suppressor pretty darn close to what the original was since it was supposed to be gold standard for...

Re: tons of junk coming from suppressor into pistol action

Try more suppressor appropriate ammunition. Something maybe 147 gr or perhaps 158 gr. For starters, 115's have more powder and higher velocities than subsonic ammo which equals to more crap coming back at you too. Plus, I don't know what kind of bullets specifically that your Winchester ammunition i...

Re: Clipping a 5.56 Suppressor worth the accuracy and POI issues?

There are many that are made from questionable materials, and there is also no magical good way to make a really quiet 556 can. So, I have to stand by my earlier comment.

I'm not saying that they all are junk, but I'm not saying they're all created equal either.

Re: Anyone have copy of delisle blueprints/

Dazed and Confused on fal files used a go gauge and then used avery sticker paper on the back of a new piece of brass to use as a no go. I took a new piece of .45 brass and added layers of white Avery adhesive labels to the base till I got exactly 0.920". The Avery labels don't compress like m...

The 300 blk is a hard one to do. If you hadn't said this was your first F1, I doubt I would've believed that. You did good on it.

Re: Anyone have copy of delisle blueprints/

Thank you for the offer garredondojr. I will be using a 45acp conversion barrel and mag adapter from Rhineland. The barrel headspaces much like the savage with a barrel nut so I doubt I should need a chamber reamer, but I'll send you a message if I do. I would definitely take you up on a headspace g...

Re: Anyone have copy of delisle blueprints/

OK, here was how I had planned to address some of those things already. Misalignment was the main reason behind all the thought I have put into it. I plan to make a suppressor tube support which is basically the same shape as the front or rear endcap, only it will fit inside the ID of the tube. That...

Re: Anyone have copy of delisle blueprints/

I have noted several differences in the varying originals that I have seen. With or without the conical internal muzzlebrake that is on the patent that said it was there to prevent a vaccum from pulling the gas out of the area behind the barrel forward when a shot is fired. Most later photos do not ...

Re: Anyone have copy of delisle blueprints/

Thank you for the reply. I have copies of those already. Most of the info that I have gathered has been from England and Euro sources. Which doesn't surprise me. Those drawings do help, but there are a lot of differences between it and the patent drawings and prototypes as well, so it looks like the...

Anyone have copy of delisle blueprints/

I've seen a ton of sketches in patent data, and also photos from a few museums in various parts of England mostly, but does anyone here have any prints with specific numbers and sizes on them? I guess the biggest thing I am curious about is baffle spacing. In knowing the barrels are 7.25", with...

Re: Wall thickness for a reflex suppressor

If you don't have a habit of doing mag dumps, destructive testing and just running it as hot as you can, you could get by with aluminum tubing, though I will admit that I am using Titanium tube for a little added strength from heat.

Re: Wall thickness for a reflex suppressor

I see no mention of what material you want to make it out of. .125" wall is probably twice as thick as it could be, but without knowing whether you're going to use Ti, Al, SS, carbon fiber or whatever makes it impossible to answer. Further, the pressure is a lot less than that farther away from...

In looking at that silencer cutaway, the just made a monocore baffle between baffles.

And I'm not saying it won't work, but makes you wonder why the military are not using their suppressors.

Re: barrel porting question

I wanted to update the topic. I was able to dig a few bullets out of the berm behind my target stand today. I was hoping to find some of the 9x39 so I could look at the jacket to see if they're getting tore up real bad from the porting. No, it is not. You can clearly see the rifling, and the jacket ...
