I find the HEAVY 9mm bolt slamming back and forth to be a huge disadvantage when shooting on the clock like in a 3-gun or subgun match.

Re: YHM qd mount threads
Thanks! I have never done an ACME thread before. My plan is: -Turn the Major diameter. -Grind a HSS bit to the ACME profile -Feed it in each pass at 14 degrees with the compound until I get to the minor diameter. -Test fit the mount, if it's too tight, take a little off the sides of the thread unit ...

Does anyone know the thread specs for a YHM qd mount? I could blueprint them but am hoping someone here has already done it.

Re: Endcap features
Thanks for the input, I really appreciate it. It is indeed a pain to do because a tool small enough to get deep in there is not very rigid. Why not use a face grooving tool? Because I'm a novice and don't have one :) Everything I had on hand was too big once I got about halfway in. I had to grind a...

My application is a dedicated 300 BLK silencer that will be pinned and welded, so I don't care about POI shift. I didn't find much when I searched, but I don't know what to call this feature. I'll search out that thread that discusses total length of metal bore. I have not seen many pics that show a...

In the NRA action pistol world we have great success with case lube (lanolin and alcohol) to keep comps from crudding up. I bet it would work for 22 silencers as well.

Re: Is there a reason there aren't any fully dimensioned prints floating around?
You could look at dimensioned prints like open source software. You don't re-write the OS for every new project, you don't even re-write common functions. You use open source code as the foundation and then build your project on that. You contribute back any fixes and fork the project if you take it...

Re: Is there a reason there aren't any fully dimensioned prints floating around?
From my point of view as a hobby machinist but not a silencer expert, I greatly appreciate the folks who post detailed drawings and report on how well it worked out. A form 1 can is a huge risk as to how well it will turn out so being able to start with something that is known to work and only have ...

Re: Security Cameras
Most of the low priced cams you find in US retail outlets (Swann, Lorex, etc) are HikVision cameras that have been re-branded and had a profit margin added. Best prices are on ali-express but warranty is difficult since you are buying direct from china. The prices are sometimes low enough that you c...

Liberty is getting serious about MAP, and Silencer Shop is a bunch of assholes who won't abide by MAP pricing. There's a reason they're not carrying cans from Henry's new company, Rugged. This is a free market after all so why is Silencer Shop assholes for selling a product cheaper then another? Lo...

You might want to try it before you get excited.... I ordered one and it kinda sorta worked in semi when it didn't jam, but it is an utter failure on full auto. It's not like my gun is to blame because it runs 100% with Ceiner, Blackdog and CMMG mags.

Re: How to thread with no thread relief
I have been threading in reverse with an upside down carbide insert at high speeds. I get beautiful threads when I'm spinning at 1400 rpm or so, but I have to have a relief to start in and do it in reverse so I don't crash into the shoulder. I can't quickly reverse my lathe as suggested, I'd probabl...

How to thread with no thread relief
I was looking at the threading guide and have no idea how to thread a barrel with no thread relief on my lathe (Grizzly G4003G)... Unless I am missing something I'd have to disengage the half nut and back out the cross slide at the same time which I don't think would be very repeatable and seems lik...

Re: DI myths
The real elegance of the AR-15 gas system is that the piston is in-line with the bore. I like to call the piston systems with an op-rod an "offset piston" to emphasize the key difference. The offset piston uppers and conversion kits of the last few years solve a very important problem: How...
