POI Shift

I was trying to share a can between two rifles. One was my daughter's Savage Hog Hunter and the other was my 6.5 CM that I had to sell. But anyway, I wound up giving up because of POI shifts. I expected a POI shift between rifles of course. I zeroed the CM with the can on. Then removed it and zeroed...

Getting a Trust (what's up with Wildcat Trust?)

I have a copy of a buddy's NFA trust that I could use as a template for mine. I'm getting ready to do just that and I head over here to check the waters on trusts just to make sure nothing has changed. Then I see the advertisement for Wildcat Trust. I assume they are legit but has anyone used them? ...

Re: Alabama: Ban on Hunting with Suppressors to be Repealed

Hold on a minute......The CAB doesn't write the regulations. They vote on PROPOSED changes. Hopefully DCNR legal and regulatory will sign off on the PROPOSED change Think there's a chance it won't happen? I'm pumped because we didn't have to go through the legislative process. I guess that may have...

Re: Do The Cops Know You’re A Gun Owner?

You dang skippy they know or at least have the potential to find out. Have you ever listened to a NICS approval request. Your personal information is given and then an identifying series of numbers and letters are given with an order to proceed. An FFL must keep records of 4473 for 20 years. But the...

Re: What about them dudes that hacked up that Brit Soldier?

I wear a uniform. Clear definition presence. Since by backup can be 20-40 minutes off, if available at all, I welcome any/all civilian support available. And if that support comes armed with the most up to date major force projection equipment, so much the better. Just telling it how it is in my ne...

Yep, same idea but with an additional 7" taken off the length of the barrel. Cool find.

Re: What about them dudes that hacked up that Brit Soldier?

Disarming the populace is not the answer. There was a college student killed recently by friendly fire. I'm not second guessing the officer, I would hate to be in that predicament and until I'm told different, he did his best. But what I am going to second guess is why the students in that room were...

Stupid Question #7. Thinking about a Hybrid Integral.

Okay, I'm kinda obsessed with whole "choppin' off a barrel" and welding on a shroud to take it out to 16". I visited a manufacturer a few years back that was making what he called pocket rifles in .22lr. There was only one real advantage of the shortened barrel inside the integral (5&...

Re: What about them dudes that hacked up that Brit Soldier?

IIRC there were cops close to the scene but they waited for the cops with the firearms to show up. Dang. So they are so "gun backward" that all their cops aren't armed? Insanity. I'd be willing to bet that the knives were illegal weapons and the soldier could not even be armed in that fas...

What about them dudes that hacked up that Brit Soldier?

Both were shot by police when they arrived. They were "talked" to by a very brave citizen, but I guess that's all one can do once one's ability to own a firearm is taken away. Carved him up like a side of beef. Liberals are so stupid. What a waste.

Alabama Gov. signs Omnibus Firearms Reform into Law!!

It was watered down a bit from what was originally proposed but we are a Shall Issue state now!! On Monday, the Alabama Legislature adjourned sine die. Gun owners and sportsmen earned a major victory with the passage of an omnibus firearms bill, Senate Bill 286. This NRA-supported bill was signed in...

Re: If Your Doctor Asks You About Guns, Do You Have to Answe

I was asked by a nurse filling out a questionnaire before an eye exam. I must admit that I was caught off guard. It was something about unsecured guns in the home IIRC. I answered "No" but then thought about it and told her it was none of her business. What concerned me, was that I couldn'...

Re: Integral Suppressor Questions?

The only caliber that i am not aware of integrally suppressing is the 50BMG. ANY caliber can be integrally suppressed. Just a matter of the funds to get it done. Cool. Is there some formula or standard on how short a particular caliber's barrel must be to remain subsonic? I'm assuming that twist is...

Pistol calibers would do it.

Very cool. And with a monocore design, it could be cleaned and cast could be shot.

Re: Integral Suppressor Questions?

What caliber are you referencing? Can't really answer anything else until we know the platform and caliber. No the unit does not have to be sealed, as long as the tube is permanent to the barrel per ATF requirements. Dang, I always forget something. .22 rimfire was what I had in mind initially. But...

Integral Suppressor Questions?

Got a few questions about this concept and making it happen on a Form 1. First, what would be optimum length to take the barrel down to in order to run supersonic ammo but stay under subsonic velocities? I want to say that I heard that 5" was a good length but I can't remember. Second, would it...

Re: Best choice for defensive shotgun: Pump or Semi-Auto?

If money is no object, I would get a tactical version of whatever semiauto the duck hunters are suggesting. A shotgun that will run reliably after being dropped in a duck pond should do just fine in the home. However, if money is tight, I would recommend a Mossberg or Remington pump with a slug barr...
