Re: Liberty mystic+ruger 77/357 = 300 black killer

I was originally going to use my 45 and 9 Ospreys with my build. Unfortunately that limits me to jacketed ammo only since they are sealed cans. I'm going to go with the Mystic X, as it is a take apart can, and is also rated for full power .357 Magnum which I will occasionally shoot from this rifle. ...

Re: Liberty mystic+ruger 77/357 = 300 black killer

Nice looking rifles gentlemen! Can't remember if I have asked here or not, but I have the stamp for my 77/357 SBR now and am wondering if you guys have any suggestions for a reputable gunsmith to do the cut and thread job? I'm in the Kansas City area if that helps. I've been sitting on this project ...

Re: ATF NFA - Wait Time Is Now 15-Months (As of 2013-10-25)

Most states have a limit on the turn around time for CCW licenses/permits, with 30-60 days being the norm. I know this is probably apples to oranges, but I'd like to see the same happen with our NFA forms, at minimum... We can keep wishing, or we can actually do something about it. I have zero faith...

Re: Kansas City NFA Gunsmith?

GA Precision was a no-go :(

Any other options for an NFA Gunsmith in the KCMO area? How about suggestions for a reputable gunsmith that has been used by guys on the board here, even if I have to ship out of state?

Thanks again,

Kansas City NFA Gunsmith?

Is there a sticky or database somewhere for NFA gunsmiths? I'm looking to have a Ruger 77/357 and CZ527M Carbine cut down and would like to have it done correctly. I have a guy in MN that I use for non-NFA stuff, but now I need to have these rifles cut below 16". Looking for someone preferably ...

Re: Photo of blowback through ejection port?

Is the flash a function of the ammunition fired or is it independent? Some wacky foreign imports have different characteristics. I'm pretty sure I was shooting Federal XM855LC1 (62gr FMJ Green Tip) from a 420 count bulk pack. I have some other 223/556 ammo laying about but that's what I normally pu...

Re: shortest threaded Ruger MKIII?

I want to thank you guys again. This idea is fantastic and it is a fun host. With a custom bolt buffer, I would bet this host is more quiet and accurate than my old P22. That silly movie Assassins http://www.imfdb.org/wiki/Assassins has really put the ultra short Ruger MK in our imaginations. http:...

Not sure if I'm adding anything to the discussion here, but I'll go ahead anyway, even if only for the "cool picture value". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Taf1Ij5Ct9c Noveske 10.5" 5.56 upper on a Stag SBR lower. Noveske Switchblock - Normal or "unsuppressed" mode I believe...

Re: shortest threaded Ruger MKIII?

Thread reviving like a boss. Like TPayne , I wanted a Ruger similar to the ones used in the movie "Assassins". And as soon as I saw ssnfa 's rig (and all the info in this thread), I knew I had to have one that short. Sent my old Ruger MKIII Target 5.5" off to my favorite gunsmith and ...

Re: Missouri, machine guns, and SBR's

A buddy and I got a [$200] fine for shooting tannerite on a MO conservation range. The first agent to confront us said they didn't allow firearms with multiple projectiles to be fired on the range (this made no sense, as I was shooting a bolt action .308). The second agent that showed up said it is ...

Re: Stripped AR Lower to Pistol to SBR to Suppressor

Its basic addition/subtraction math, its not hard by any means I was going to make fun of myself and say this: "Or, I can take the OAL of a 16" barreled AR15 and subtract 5.5" to get my 10.5" SBR length." Then I found this: http://www.bushmaster.com/firearms/XM-15.as...

Re: Stripped AR Lower to Pistol to SBR to Suppressor

So I need to measure, as accurately as possible, the butt stock, buffer tube, lower receiver, upper receiver, and barrel, not forgetting to account for any overlap once everything is assembled and/or all threaded together, when it is ILLEGAL for me to be in possession of all of these items until aft...

Re: Missouri, machine guns, and SBR's

Just a heads up if you plan on using a public range on any of the Missouri Conservation Area lands. I can't get the local Conservation Department to issue me a special use permit in order to shoot a machine gun on the Public Ranges here in northwestern Missouri. State Law requires a special use perm...

Re: Stripped AR Lower to Pistol to SBR to Suppressor

Here's how I did it. 1. Bought stripped lower receiver. Sold to me as neither a pistol or rifle, just a receiver. 2. Bought and installed lower parts kit. 3. Bought and installed a pistol buffer tube. Now it is originally built as a pistol, and can forever be reverted to pistol configuration. 4. Bou...

Re: Gen 4 19 w/ tirant 45 questions

Congrats on getting your Tirant 45! 1. I have a lone wolf 1/2x28 barrel & piston for use on my Glock 9mm handguns, though I am running a Silencerco 45Osprey. I believe the design principle is the same. You should only need the 1/2x28 piston. 2. Mine is a Gen3 G19, but I don't see there being any...

I'll second the Savage MARK II FV-SR. Unless you are looking for something super short or extra custom ($$$$$), I'd just stick with a cheap Savage like this. It is set up perfectly for quiet plinking, right out of the box for under $300 OTD, accuracy isn't half bad either. Sounds fantastic suppresse...

Re: Does a trust REALLY skip NICS?

If an unauthorized person was able to purchase a Machine Gun via a Trust, that person would still never legally be in possession of the machine gun, right? Nothing changes the fact that this person can't legally own or posses a machine gun. Using a trust might put the item in their hands, but it sti...

Re: Transfer from individual stamp to a Trust

These will all be a Form 4 transfer. You are basically filling the Form 4 out as if you are the dealer/owner and the trust is the buyer, since you already own the item, and are transferring it into your new trust. The process would be the same if you were selling your item(s) to an in-state buyer. Y...

This is what I have gone with while searching for a "chassis" system for my G17 SBR. Mako Collapsible Stock & Mako Scope Mount The stock is so/so quality, lots of flex when shooting, but hey, it was $100 or so and you get what you pay for. The scope mount is surprisingly solid. I'll mo...

Re: Which thread for fixed mount?

I made a quick video on my 45Osprey and its Piston system. Like I say in the video and my previous post, I believe any new Osprey or Octane uses identical/interchangeable pistons, so this same process/theory will apply to all Octane 45s. Someone will surely correct me if I'm wrong. http://youtu.be/-...
