Re: My 4 year battle with AAC to fix a defective suppressor...

If this can is a wash, I would have the back hole bored out and thread it to 5/8X24 or even larger so a quick detach hider will fit onto it. If it doesn't work, I'd use the can as a metal gong and make a video showing how AAC cans work better as metal targets.

Re: cutting threads question

If you cut both of the caps first, you can use them to test fit the tube rather than the other way around. .140 sounds about right.

Re: How big is too big for a .22 can?

I am patiently(oh what the hell ever....) awaiting my Form 1 to return, I am thinking of designs while I wait. I discovered that I have some 1.25" aluminum tubing in my shop(I'll have to check the ID, but it's not very thick. On the Form 1 I put the length at 6.25" long. Is that going to ...

Re: 9mm can: quiet on 16" but loud on 5" ?????

Some 147 grain 9mm ammo can be transonic meaning it has the potential to go faster than the speed of sound. The HK MP5 is a prime example of such gun. The barrel on the HK is almost 9". Some 147 9mm will still crack with a suppressor installed while others will not. I suggest you chrono your SB...

Re: Question on lathe purchase - input requested

A 9"x20" would be the smallest I'd go. There are plenty of parts for the 9"x20". I had a Jet 9x20 that I ran almost everyday for almost 11-13 years, 3-5 hours a day. During that time, I replaced parts that broke from a moving accident, dented belt cover case, broken gear selector...

Re: lathes for building

You can do a lot with a 9x20 over the 7x12. I had a Jet 9x20 and ran it hard (4-6 hours a day for almost 12-13 years). I finally took it to the scrap yard after the power switch burned out. Jet wanted $300+ for the part. It had survived a fall during a move but the gear selector was replaced with a ...

Aluminum for a .223 can is not a good idea. Kind of like eating a bunch or bran muffins and having several cups of coffee then stuck in traffic, s--t will happen.
