Re: welded and riveted suppressor legally lengthen barrel?

High temp silver soldier would work, but unless SBRs are illegal in your state it really isn't worth it.

Re: New to the forums and will like to know the process involved in purchasing a form 4 rifle

You are going to need an instate dealer anyway, my advise is to track down a good local dealer and it will make your life much easier.

A good dealer will help walk you through most of the details, especially when dealing with a MG.

Re: Transport SBR out of state

If it's an AR, it isn't worth the risk.

Just get a spare lower setup as a pistol lower and use the short upper on it, leave the SBR lower at home.

My favorites:

8-10" 300blk
5.5" 9mm
4.5" .22lr
7-10" .223

the top three also being excellent suppressor hosts

Re: another modular suppressor question

There are two landmines to avoid. 1) you are not allowed to make "spare parts" - so make sure that your design would include features such that a baffle from one section couldn't replace a baffle (or spacer) from the other. I'd say different dimensionally or welded stack would be appropria...

Re: Legal To Shorten A Tube?

There is no specific length that makes it ok, any shortening is allowed as long as the serial # and other markings aren't impacted.

It takes an 07/02 to do the work without creating a new silencer if any parts need replaced.

Re: 410 Shotgun Suppressor, any experience out there ?

Some of the older tech silencers here in the states used brass eyelets (like the type used for boots to run the laces through), might be able to get your hands on something like that to try.

Re: Dealing with lathe taper

IME, using a boring bar long enough to run the entire inside length of the tube, will add taper on a perfectly trued machine from tool deflection alone. Not too much mind you, but measureable. With the amount you've posted, I wouldn't worry about it. Make your baffle stack true itself up to the face...

Re: Budget 3D printed baffles?

Were it not for the damn $200 per try, I'd have you a monocore printed by the end of the day that you could shoot on 22LR without casting. This is on a 500 dollar printer. Once you understand where the good and the bad surfaces are going to be, printing is easy. The roughness might even add to the ...

Re: Remove rifle from sbr status

Realize the $60 lower only applies to ARs though, and that doesn't work if you sell both halves together (unless your also going to get a brace and sell it as a pistol config). You should also realize in doing so, that you still are technically breaking the law as you are building a firearm for sale...

Re: Remove rifle from sbr status

First , no one is required to notify the ATF of anything. Yes they request it, but there is no law in place to force you to or to let them punish you for not notifying. Second, even if you notify them, the serial number does NOT get removed from the registry. A note gets added about the change and t...

Re: how hard is it to get a LE demo letter for a FA as an FFL 1 SOT 3? what model gun do LEA's typically ask for?

2nd hand knowledge, take it for what it is: You get buddy-buddy with a local LEO responsible for making purchasing decisions and hope like hell they'll agree to provide a letter. And if the same guy gives you multiple letters, especially for items that a PD would likely not be truly "demo-ing&q...

No tracking, no priority, nothing special in any way.

It comes back as regular first class postage just as if they mailed you a letter.

If you don't see it in a week - week and a half, I'd call and tell him you never received it.

While your situation is kind of unique, the error letter should tell you exactly what they want.

Just fill in or change what they ask for and send it back.

Re: NFA SBR question and suppressor.

If by keep them seperated you mean two different people have possession, then that could work as well

But if you mean have all the parts but in an un-assembled state, then you would be meeting the definition of "constructive possession" and could still be charged

Re: NFA SBR question and suppressor.

While technically correct on suppressors, sometimes it takes out a hassle for any unintended LEO encounters. Anyway all you can do is wait for the return mail or call NFA branch and ask for the status on the form. If at all possible (like temp putting a >16" barreled upper on an AR SBR and putt...

Re: Optimal barrel length for 9mm suppressed

I might add that you should be careful when using factory 9mm ammo. Some of the factory powder used is very abrasive and if it's not burnt very quickly in a short barrel can cause blast baffle wear. WWB used to be notorious for this. Since I reload, I haven't kept current on it. Also IME, 5-6" ...

I would hope that following common industrial manufacturing practices would be acceptable for a home build. In other words, the manufacturing process in most (reputable anyway) manufacturing companies includes quality control checks. If the firearms industry doesn't call a firearm complete until af...

Federally speaking you fill out the .20 for the move, marking it a perm move to the new location. Once you get it back approved, that's it. There may be other local issues at the state level etc. As far as the trust, you would need to make sure the trust will still be valid in the state you are movi...

Re: What would yu do here? Question for those with hands on experience...

.25 -.223 = .027

.027 / 2 = .0135

that means with perfect tolerances the bullet will have .0135 inches between it and the endcap

For reference a typical human hair or a sheet of paper is .004 thick

I usually go around .06 over bore diameter

.223 + .06 = .283

9 / 32 = .28125

It would depend on how you set up the FFL. If you use your existing company (corp, llc, etc.) you would need to follow the rules as any other entity. Any responsible party could have possession of any item owned by the entity

Re: Can an individual/trust "make" an AOW?

As stated above it is perfectly legal. However, the only logical reason to do so is if the location allows AOWs but does NOT allow SBRs It costs the same and the SBR has more options in the end. Also there is nothing wrong with taking a pistol, giving it to an 07/02 and letting them assemble (build)...
