Re: Helicoil for mount threads?

I think it would be better than aluminum threads, but make sure a face of the can tightens against a face om the barrel so that you aren't relying on helicoil to keep you aligned..

Re: grade 9 drilling question

I burned up several drill bits before I figured it out when I was making my last can.. Look up what sfm and feed speed you should be using for that grade of Ti, should be easy to find on google, and then run the calculations to figure out rpm for a particular sized drill bit. I made an excel file to...

Re: 3-D Printing WSJ 18 June 2014

I am planning on picking up a 3d printer in the next month or so.. I have had access for several for the past year, and have found them invaluable. My main use is just prototyping, it is easier and cheaper to test some parts with a printer before wasting the time and metal to cut them on a real mac...

...If you are wanting a rifle cartridge, I think anything shy of a .50 BMG would just be ridiculous  Just my $0.02

But seriously, I am excited to see this build in the finished state; great idea

Sweet. beautiful machine work man. Ive been contemplating submitting a F1 for a pistol can here recently so the I appreciate the pics and experience. Where did you get the spring at if you dont mind me asking? McMaster-Carr's website, I used part# 9657k362 (Steel Compression Spring, Zinc-pltd Music...

Re: .40 Titanium K Baffle Form 1

Another one in a league of its own. One question though. Why not squeeze in another small "K" in the front end cap? It is hard to see in the picture, but I used a rounded tool to cut a ring that is about half the depth of the endcap to add volume and make it resemble the face of a baffle....

.40 Titanium K Baffle Form 1

Hey guys! It has been forever since I have been on the forum, but I finally finished the build that I have slowly been working on in my free time for quite a long while. So here are some pictures and descriptions of the build: First I made a jig to hold four baffles for machining at once. I was luck...

That is the one thing I can still find! The local BVAC outlet here in MT has CCI and Winchester primers for $33, rifle and pistol. Too bad I cannot find any bullets :P

Re: Fun with Haas CNCs

That is the main reason, I am waiting to be able to use some machines off campus to avoid trouble. I am strapped for cash right now and am taking 22 credits this semester, so I am happy with what little shop time I am able to make; besides, that is quite a project and I am teaching myself to use the...

haha thanks  I was going to leave that off, but was persuaded otherwise by a buddy.. Eh, I just like customizing all of my stuff. I am hoping to make my own billet receiver next semester, I'll have to see how long it takes to machine out my suppressor

Fun with Haas CNCs

I have been having lots of fun with the CNC shop at the lower campus at my college; I started taking classes as electives last year and now I am good friends with the teacher, so I get to play with a lot of my own projects! I am currently waiting to get my papers back to build a solid titanium CNC'd...

Re: Building a 30-.06 suppressor

I made a 22lr monocore can out of aluminum; after several hundred rounds, even it is showing a good amount of wear on the bore hole of the first few baffles from the hot gas out of the barrel. I can not imagine it holding up very long on a centerfire rifle..

Pics looks good, just remember they are patented so I would recommend against using them. Hate to see Remington sue you for infringement. ahh I had thought about patents, but from what I had heard I thought it was only an issue if you intended to profit from them.. how much would I have to change t...

Re: G23 .40 Suppressor design progress

Hopefully this will work a bit better for baffles, it should be pretty similar to the Element baffles. I'll probably also end up putting the notches in the front and the skirt to keep them all indexed the same like the Element..

Re: G23 .40 Suppressor design progress

I know the baffle design is lacking, that is just my basic starting shape.. I have never seen a baffle in person, and was having a very hard time trying to understand the angles in the pictures I have seen. I think I finally understand how the port is supposed to go! I have been looking at AAC Eleme...

Re: G23 .40 Suppressor design progress

Ball end mill plunged straight down, not at an angle. All the successful K Baffles use this method. The 45 degree +/- angle will not give you the performance you are wanting. Thanks, its great to get info from somebody with experience. So straight down right up against the front of the k and all th...

^^like they said, I think it would be easiest to modify an existing firearm to fit the purpose if you are looking for semi auto..

G23 .40 Suppressor design progress

I sent my papers in on June 4th, and hopefully will have the approved form in hand in the next few months for my .40 suppressor, which will go on my G23. So far I have collected 1.35” x .065”wall Ti tubing, along with 1.25” Ti solid round stock, and I have a couple feet of 1.5” Stainless stock. I am...
