Re: So.....just used the dip and results not as spectacular as I expected?

Thanks a lot for all the helpful replies! I gave it another go last night and did manage to brush more off, but I also really don't enjoy the feeling of droplets of lead acetate hitting my skin.........so after getting it clean enough that I'm not risking a baffle strike, I ordered some Simple Green...

So.....just used the dip and results not as spectacular as I expected?

Hey all - just left my SWR Spectre (I) in The Dip for three days. Was expecting squeaky-clean, but that's not really what I got. I primarily care about getting enough lead out of the way that I won't have a baffle strike. Here's before: https://i.imgur.com/RQ0i6Uq.jpg https://i.imgur.com/V9iIdoD.jpg...

135-gr. cast 9mm suitable for subsonic?

Hey all - strongly considering this group buy for a MiHec 135-gr., .356 powdercoat-friendly mold. 147's always been my go-to for subs - before I throw $100 at this I'd like to know that it will be a good buy. Here's what the boolits look like before powdercoating: http://castboolits.gunloads.com/att...

Re: Best/cheapest place to get Spectre pusher tool?

No kidding! Even with lots of buildup? Is that due to a new design? Because I tried a dowel once (finally remembering) and it was a cast iron b%@%# to get the stack out...

Re: Best/cheapest place to get Spectre pusher tool?

Thanks for all the advice, everybody. Forgot a dowel would work! Been so long since I had it apart. Andrew, I'll call you tomorrow! I think it would be sheer foolishness for me not to just upgrade when I can get the $200 together. Especially since it apparently comes with a tool? Or did I dre...

Man, you are too kind! I really, really appreciate that. I may well end up upgrading, but in the meantime, how awesome to have a tool. You are a gent and a scholar! Give me a holler next time you're in.

Re: Best/cheapest place to get Spectre pusher tool?

Actually about 10 minutes NW of Nashville in Cheatham County, but I work in South Nashville.

So did a little research...imagine that...$200 and quick turnaround for basically a new can. Pretty hard to say no to that...

Best/cheapest place to get Spectre pusher tool?

Hey all - I am the proud owner of a Spectre I and have been for several years. This can is simply magnificent. But, I lacked the foresight to purchase a pusher tool when they came out. Now, after all these rounds, I'm dead certain I'll need one to get it apart. I'm also poor white trash. So - can an...

Re: Powdercoating cast bullets: no excess lead in suppresso

No kidding. Well you are uniquely qualified to speak to this! Can you say how much more there was? I never shoot cast lead through my cans because I don't want to drastically shorten their useful lives. That's what makes powdercoating my own cast bullets so attractive; I don't have to rely on bullet...

Powdercoating cast bullets: no excess lead in suppressors.

Hey all - I've recently become aware of the gradually growing trend of powdercoating bullets. Where this makes a fantastic difference for us is that powdercoated cast bullets won't cause any more buildup in cans than jacketed bullets. In fact, bores end up much cleaner when PC bullets are shot in th...

That modular design is AWESOME... love the look of the tiny one!!! Brilliant. And can I believe my own fingers... That is a nice looking Glock. Great, now my 1911s will never talk to me again.

Would love to hear how different it sounds short.

Re: Holster for this pistol?

Man, that thing is awesome, and is really what I'm looking for if it would just fit. I'd love to have a nice, tough holster I can strap on before going into the woods; looks like custom kydex might be the only way to get a holster that truly fits the gun, but it would be great to have something like...

Re: Holster for this pistol?

Dragoon, this holster you speak of has piqued my interest. I've found some images of it, but can't seem to find it for sale - not even through LBT or AAC. Any chance you could point me in the right direction?

Thanks a lot, all.

Re: Holster for this pistol?

More great ideas - I think custom kydex may well fit the bill. Yeah, I tried Steve at Battlecloth, but he said the laser was a no-go and the sight was the same problem. Too bad - I've heard his stuff was 100% GTG. Ah yes! The brass knob is a custom-made bolt weight made by Dolomite_Supafly. What a h...

Here's my MkIII 22/45 with Spectre and IR laser. http://i930.photobucket.com/albums/ad145/thetastycat/ruger_zpse9a38595.jpg Can anybody suggest a decent holster for it? Battlecloth is a no-go because of the optic and laser, the Black Dog kydex is out because of the laser...am I condemned to some hug...

Re: Best railed .22LR pistol host?

Yep, SV is the answer. Ran perfectly! Bender, you seriously saved me like 30 points of blood pressure after spending a hell of a lot of time, effort, and money setting this gun up and trying to get it reliable.

Re: Best railed .22LR pistol host?

No, seriously! I really had never considered SV. Every manufacturer says use minimags, and I think we all hold CCI subs to be the best subs available, but it hadn't occurred to me that SV would still be subsonic in the 7" barrel of the SBRed GSG-5. That would certainly give more juice than the ...

Re: Best railed .22LR pistol host?

Wow, Bender - great idea. I'd been using CCI subs as I figured there was no better option, but since SV obviously stays subsonic, that is a brilliant idea. Yeah, it runs fine with Minimags, of course; it seems to be having some feeding issues with the subs, but I'll bet SV clears the whole thing up....

Re: Best railed .22LR pistol host?

Yeah, I've kind of shied away from the Browning/Ruger school since I've always found their pistols to be butt ugly. However, it does make sense that not having to move an entire slide in recoil could lend itself to better reliability as the same force only has to operate a smaller bolt. Yeah, the 22...

Re: Best railed .22LR pistol host?

That railed 22/45 is actually pretty hot looking. I've just heard too many sad stories about the conversion kits, much as I love my SIGs. Might be time to buy a .22 that's pretty much built for function. That thing would be one hot mamma with a red dot on top and IR laser on the bottom. Yeah buddy. ...

Best railed .22LR pistol host?

Hey all - I'm tired of my mosquito's trigger and diva-ness. I'm looking for a new .22 pistol host for my Spectre, but I really need one with a rail on the bottom. I am also looking for a nice trigger (or at least one that can be worked on to achieve niceness) and one that's not super-fussy about amm...
