Re: Individual build from A to Z

Basics aren't hard, you can't do any work until your stamp comes back and you can't replace or make extra parts, ever . Thats the basics. I'm looking at ATF info. http://www.atf.gov/firearms/faq/national-firearms-act-silencers.html It's offering two options for repair. A person who is licensed unde...

Re: Individual build from A to Z

A friend dragged me to the airsoft store to look at silencers. He was convinced that the threads were a match and the part could be adapted. Turns out airsoft cans are tubes within a tube, sealed caps and threads are left handed. I suppose this horse have been beaten over and over. But it may be hel...

Re: Individual build from A to Z

That sounds reasonable and I knew in the back of my mind it would be the case. Haven't looked inside a fake supressor so I was wondering. Next thought process is to consider repairs to silencer parts. I have a question in to my ATF agent concerning the mechanics, do s and don'ts and caveats of the f...

Re: Individual build from A to Z

New Question, Assuming you can purchase fake silencers from various sources, I have seen products readily available, comprised of a 1/2 x 28 threaded barrel adapter and an empty can. It would follow that any individual could legally make a fake silencer, empty can with a back and front insert. No in...

Re: Individual build from A to Z

Thanks Man, Very helpful. That's what I thought. Followup, ???, I see some makers sizing there cans for the largest caliber they own, hence, they declare the can length and for instance 45 cal on the form 1, then have an adapter made with threads to match a 40, 9 and 22. That leads to another ??, Ca...

Individual build from A to Z

Can anyone give me a general plain language talk through on the start to finish process for an individual build. I'm particularly interested in knowing if any parts of the device can be in the individuals posession prior to having the tax stamp in hand. Are there any legal round abouts to doing some...

@ rqlasl

I'm wanting to start a from 1 and have not found any info on when an individual build can begin. Is it absolutely and not a minute before the tax stamp is in your hand? Is there any way around doing some advanced prototyping or fabbing maybe a threaded barrel adapter?

Re: Building a 30-.06 suppressor

I didn't realize that it was against Form 1 to make replacement parts for a suppressor. I'm ready to throw my hat in on building a silencer and have read the GCA regs. I believe any individual can apply to make and register a silencer. They can then recruit a FFL gunsmith to help them with the buil...
