I think it would be easy for ATF to show intent. That intent + the ability + all parts on hand to make multiple silencers = conviction. You obviously know what the law is, stupid as it is, I don't think ATF would consider this a loop hole, I think they would consider it a violation.

I drove from Ohio to Texas to get a chance to test my F1 cans. John Titsworth set up a shoot and made his meter and equipment available for anyone use. He also ran the meter and made sure everything was being done to standards. Thanks John! Anyhow, my first F1 can is a screw on 22 can it is 1 inch b...

This is the one I bought http://www.machinetoolonline.com/PM1236.html I have been happy with it but I am not a machinist and to be honest it is the only lathe I have ever used. I spent a long time researching before I bought it and I felt it was the best value because of everything it includes, all ...

Very nice work! I think your core has more internal volume than any of the other staggered hole cores I have seen. Is the core made of aluminum? This is one of the higher tech F1 cans I have seen with the Ti tube that does not need to be threaded the end cap is very well thought out and the mono-cor...

Depends on wall thickness and material. I used a .049 stainless tube and threaded it 36 TPI. This has worked well for me. My TAC 67 has coarser threads but it also has a thicker tube. The higher your threads per inch the closer they are together and they have less depth as well. A coarser thread wil...

Dope! Thanks for correcting me guys. I was thinking a 9mm is about the same as the 38 caliber cartridges out there and forgot 38s are not actually .380

That makes the .40 hole Conqueror mentioned a very good starting point.

Given the same amount of volume I think a longer, thiner can will typically yield better results than a short fat one.

How confident are you in your design and abilities? If you have proper tools, good skill and are very careful about keeping everything concentric then having .020 all the way around will work. .380 (9mm) + .020 each side = .420 You could do it with even less but it would worry me. Another thing you ...

I have always thought a suppressed AR7 would be cool but I think leaving it as a 22 would be much more practical. I have thought of doing one myself one day. Is there room in the stock to fit a suppressed, 16 inch barrel? As far as heat goes a silencer tube heats up much faster then a solid barrel. ...

Leaving the burs on the baffle do show a lack of attention to detail but the baffle looks very stout which would be my first concern on a 50 BMG. I think there is a good chance the Burs will go away after the first few rounds are fired. If not spend some time with a bead blaster, not that you should...

The ability to clean it is important if you are shooting lead bullets but I doubt a 45-70 can would see the amount of use a 22 can does so I am not sure it is absolutely necessary. I don't know much about the 45-70 but the two things that I have noticed that really dictate what type baffle to use ar...

I would make your blast baffle rather far away from the muzzle like 1.25"+ if you are going to use it for 223. I hate to say it but I think you might be asking too much of the same core. I think you will be disappointed with the performance in 223 because of the huge bore hole. Since your prima...

How is the tube being held onto the barrel? Does the tube have to be twisted as it is threaded on? If not you could drill a hole, for a pin, where the tube meets the barrel. Drill the hole in the middle of the seam while the tube is in place and when the dowel/pin is installed in that hole it will a...

You could make an eccentric can where the majority of the volume was below the bore. Lots of work making sure everything lines up but it is doable. Like a DeLisle and some Maxim cans. The old Hush Puppy cans and some AAC cans had sights built into the can. They were not for target shooting but this ...

You have to be careful with boosters. If they give too much boost you will end up breaking something. It is a balance between weight, length and cartridge. Not something I would want to tackle and a F1 builder.

I would choose option A. I have heard some very good sounding cans with very simple monolithic baffle systems. The biggest advantage, to me, would be the ease of removing the baffle stack for cleaning. It is mighty hard to pull a K baffle out the back of a tube and the crud from a 22 glues them in p...

It is the same color scheme but a different model but it may be built to essentially the same specs. Mine has a lead screw for threading + a separate bar that spins and engages the carriage hand wheel for the auto feed. Mine is the same as a Grizzly G4003 or GMC GML1236BG or Birmingham YCL.

Hey Pd - Yep there are a lot of companies that offer essentially the exact same lathe as the one I ordered. The reason I went with that one is because of all the extras that came with it like a light, coolant system, foot barke (which I never use) and the thread/auto feed gear box is in an oil bath....

I permanently attached the tube to the barrel so I did not have to register it as an SBR. I can not get in there to take a look. The ID of the tube is 1.5 so hopefully with the hardware cloth and the distance I will be OK. With the price of 45 I will not be shooting it as much as I would like anyhow.

If you dont want to run 147gr, just port it like the SD However use less ports so you dont drop the velocity as low as the SD. Keep drilling untill you hit 1050fps. Also keep the ports away from aluminum (use a carbon steel or SS "blast shield) if your using a Al tube Uh-ooo The Camp 45 I just...
