Re: Greetings! Gummy ammunition - will it be a negative or positive?
The stuff on the RWS ammo is a beeswax lube, compared to most other manufacturers RWS uses quite a bit more than is needed. generally speaking most Hi-vel .22 ammo is subsonic in a pistol (with a barrel length less than 5.5 in. in length). having said that, it is hit or miss weather or not your part...

Re: So what is tightest you go with a bore ?
the smallest diamater bore I've used was .234, but concentricity throughout the can including the mounting thread was held to .0005 total runout. the thread on the muzzle of my rifle was held to .0002 TIR to the bore. in this instance there was no POI shift with or without the can on the gun. it was...

Re: Question about the term SFM
I don't know in what context you read "SFM' in, but I assume it had something to do with machining. the only reference I have seen to SFM relates to how fast the workpiece or material is spinning in relation to the turning tools lateral movement in a lathe. in other words it is how fast the mat...

Yes, I've done two of them in the last month. I will get mine this weekend. then I,ll have to do mine. I also bead blasted the barrels
they look much nicer that way. as to your question on sight clearance, as long as the can is one inch in dia. the sights will clear just fine.

Re: Gov hiring contractors to pick up nfa pace?
I have some cash coming my way in the near future, and when it arrives I intend to do about 5 form ones. 1, Delisle carbine on a mauser action 2, MP-5 SD in semi auto. 3, High standard integral. 4, two .22 cal mono cores that I thought up. I'm waiting on a form one for a .308 can now, filed 2 months...

Re: 12" barreled ar-15 upper w/o sbr.
I did the exact same thing with an AR-15 dedicated .22 upper that I built. full weld around the back of the berrel and the centering colllar by the muzzle. then I milled vent holes all around the shroud to lighten it up a bit, it really looks nice. with my suppressor installed it only adds 2.5 in. t...

Re: Barrel for Ruger 10/22 - Regular 1/16 or 1/9?
sorry I got so long winded, I didn't address the second part of your question. accuracy is pretty good out to 50 yds. or so.
but they have a "rainbow" trajectory, compensate for that and they are a blast.

Re: Barrel for Ruger 10/22 - Regular 1/16 or 1/9?
this is just my opinion, stick with the 1:16 barrel. the Aguilla 60 gr. rounds are great, but in a semi auto they blast some foul smelling gasses back in your face. but more of a concern to me is the greater recoil impulse generated by the heavier bullet. this will be damn hard on the entire bolt as...

Re: Threading 'Higher End' Rifles Questions...help please
on threading your Weatherby .22, I don't think I would. Just my opinion, the barrel is very small at the muzzle. if it is like mine. you would need an adapter of some type to get it to have a shoulder to butt the suppressor up to. I think an adapter on this particular rifle would look out of place.

I like shooting anything with my silenced .22 it's just sooo much fun, but for smacking bullfrogs it's hard to beat a good .177 pellet rifle
with a laser mounted on it. and these days it is deffinately cheaper too.

I can't speak about tonal differences of suppressers made for a center fire out of titanium vs. stainless steel, but I've shot two .22 rimfier cans side by side onwalther p22 pistols. the cans were identical in dimension just different materials. one being all stainless steel the other one was all a...

Re: 1/2x28 major diameter
when I cut any thread, Imeasure the thread using a thread micrometer and cut the thread to the standard thread pitch diamater listed in the machinery hand book . I usually cut a class #3 thread, this thread class has a tighter tolerance than a class #2 thread. anyway whoever threaded the barrel that...

Re: Odd uses for insert tooling...
no I would'nt want to try this with a knife. the carbide insert is extremely hard, and will cut glass easily. if you push the sharp corner of an insert against the surface of the glass it will start to penetrate it slightly causing a tiny fracture. any additional pressure exerted on it will cause th...

Re: Odd uses for insert tooling...
the insert focuses all of the pressure exerted in one tiny spot. this is what makes the glass break so easily.
you can do the same thing with an automatic center punch.

Re: Yankee Hill cans
I have a .22 cal wraith, it is a large diameter can for a 22, due to its large size it has a nice tone and suppresses about anything you put through it. I like it a lot , just have some problems seeing over it without tall sights on a pistol.

Re: Knock holes in this idea, please
as for having carbon build-up on the barrel and threads, you can have a tube attached to both of the internal mounting points. I've seen this done in some reflex type cans, this will keep the gasses contained in the can and not on the barrel or in your threads.

Re: .22 LR Helical Monocore Suppressor Design
just a suggestion, from the looks of it you have a significant amount of excess metal at the exit end of your suppressor. if you were to make the endcap shorter with a shorter pilot (the o-ring would go here) you should be able to put another chamber at the front of your stack. this could only help ...

Re: Moderator pressures
I think the 55,000 psi number is the chamber pressure. this would be the peak pressure at the chamber only, as the bullet travels down the barrel the pressure begins to drop off. the volume in the barrel increases as the bullet moves down the barrel and the remaining powder is consumed the pressure ...
