Re: Commercial vs "kit" vs "diy"
After over 30 years of building suppressors from scratch I think these kits as a travesty to the hobby and profession. I see very little "smithing" when you order parts build by another to make the claim you built it? Its a bit different if you designed it then commissioned the build or a...

Re: $350 form1 .22 build
It looks good man. I love my DM checkmate clone. As for the "commercial is cheaper" crowd, well that depends on if you have a decent 07/02 around. The last time I checked at my local shop they charged $150-$75 per NFA transfer, plus I would have had to deal with that grumpy old asshole. No...

What kind of ammo are you using? You sure it's not going supersonic in your rifle?

Curious what the accuracy is like. That's a pretty tight bore especially for non precision work.

Re: Thoughts on grade 2 Ti for spacers
Thanks bender.. Ill steer clear of grd 2 then. I appreciate the offer! I actually found a 10" piece that will work for $28 - prolly not a great price but it will suffice. It's also 0.035 thick.
Thanks again.

Thoughts on grade 2 Ti for spacers
I'm designing my next suppressor.. I've got a 2" od 1.5" ID 12"L piece of 4140 that I'm going to turn down to 1.65"-1.625". Also going to hone the inside. Threads will be 1 9/16 x 20tpi. It's going to have 12 60* cones. It's gonna be a heavy. It's gonna see use on my 338 win...

Another option is RoninPro. Can get a a 7075 tube in 1.25"OD, 1.5"OD or 2"OD with either 7075, 6061, or 303SS 60* cones or 60* M cups. The kits are priced about the same as preppers, and have machined internals instead of flat freeze plugs. Their gen2 stuff looks pretty sweet. Aluminu...

Re: Waste ports - big or small
What sized ball mill/cutter did you use on your cuts? I've been trying to get an answer on if 3/8th" is the right size for 9mm/.357 or if I should go 7/16" or a bit larger even. I went with 3/8" centered on the edge of the bore on my completed K baffle can and have been trying to get ...

Never tried it. I'd imagine it would work more than once, atleast. If you plan on using it on an AR15 forget about it.MikeG wrote:Andromax, can aluminum handle rifle rounds?

Re: New Guy asking for Help with 1st homemade supressor.
DM is Diversified Machine. Awesome stuff. Can't keep it in stock unfortunately. Tubes are machined inside and out for tighter tolerances. SDTA are hacked off and threaded with 20tpi threads to match Maglite threads. The IDs will vary. Not a terrible product but the bar has been set pretty high since...

Re: Finished my first K baffle can
Yeah I didn't really get good pictures of the scoops did I. They're pretty deep, about. .05" or so from popping out the back of the face cone, if that makes any sense, same with the other plunge cut coming in from the back. Im out of town for 2 weeks workin, when I get home I will take better p...

Re: Finished my first K baffle can
Thanks!
Yeah it was an interesting project, lots of research and I still probably screwed up plenty.
With the 38s I'm getting a high frequency hiss coming out of the can with each shot, the 9mms were quieter so idk if it's a volume thing, and ammo thing or a crap K thing.

Finished my first K baffle can
Hey guys, I had done a couple freeze plug suppressors in the past and after buying a 8x16" grizzly and putting a couple dozen hours tinkering on it and ruining expensive bar stock I was ready to cut out some K baffles. The Ti tube and caps are premade solvent trap parts that I modified by turni...

Re: Question from the gurus on lathes
I have a G0768 Grizzly, it's a 8 x 16" it's great and I love it but its pretty small. Not having a large spindle bore is a bummer but it comes with a steady rest and a follow rest. I've cut a bunch of baffles on it and will cut alot more.

Re: Multihost suppressor question
I would build a dedicated 22lr suppressor and build it with a 22 caliber bore. I don't think you will like the performance of the tiny suppressor running 9mm through it. Build a 9mm suppressor later when you can afford it. Once you build one, you won't want to stop anyways, suppressors are like tatt...

Re: Solvent trap legallity question
The ATF is smart enough to not try to prosecute someone that any lawyer capable of tying their own shoes could get them out of. The way the regulations are written its very easy for them to charge someone but almost harder to get a conviction.

Re: Solvent trap legallity question
Yeah, solvent traps are not silencers until the end user "redisgns" it to be such. T-rex is right on about intent. The ATF reys heavily on intent when determining NFA items ESPECIALLY silencers, because you couod turn just about anything into a silencer. Remeber when they ruled that chore ...

I figured as much, I'm assuming the piston isn't wide enough internally?

Would the gemtech LID (nielsen)work on a form 1 .45 can?
I've been trying to find the internal dimension of the piston that comes on the Gemtech L.I.D. http://www.gem-tech.com/store/pc/L-I-D- ... er-p96.htm for possible use with a form 1 can. I understand it's intended for a 9mm suppressor they sell.
