Re: Will this pantograph engraver work on 2" tubing?
The electric etchers will go as deep as you want them to as long as you keep cleaning out the burnt material and adding some more solution. My buddy has one he uses to etch his company logo in receivers and tubes. He's etched one and measured it to .010 or better. I have this: http://www.e-engraving...

Re: How bad is it to become a manufacture
I just had a lovely sit down with one of the local ATF agents and this subject came up. He agreed that the fee is rediculous and told me that ATF has been working with DoS to either lessen the amount based on net sales or to baes it on the same 50 gun rule as the excise tax. So far it has fallen on ...

Re: Ultrasonic Cleaners For Baffle Cleaning
I have had Crest Ultrasonics systems at work (both the desk top models and the big 2 tank long gun systems) for about 10 years and I can tell you that neither will really clean the carbon using aluminum safe chemical. Heated to about 150-200 degrees Simple Green and water 50/50 do about the best job...

The only way to do the baffles first would be to EDM the bore hole.

1.6" ball mill in a vertical milling machine then finish with sand paper. Failing that, stock black, chisels, and lots of time.

As the USP and MK23 were designed concurrently I'd still go with the smaller USP if I were HK that is. If I were SiG however I'd have gone with their 221.

Re: Would you buy a MK23 again if you had it to do over agai
Again, I never said that they had no redeeming qualities or that they weren't a good gun. My biggest issue is that they went through a drawn out, expensive R&D and testing program to come out with essentially the same gun (only needlessly larger) that could have been built from an off the shelf ...

And Constructive Intent is NOT part of any law. It is some BS an ATF attourney invented in an "opinion".

Thats cool man. I know I'm biased against the thing. It was a giant waste of money and time for the DoD and of the folks I know who have had the oppertunity to carry one all but 1 has said they would use most anything else given the chance. And for the record 1/2 pound...sorry... .41 lbs weight diff...

::extending hand so the ring may be kissed:: The USP Tactical. Same mags, safety, decock, o-ring barrel, tall sights, same cans (with different thread of course). May not be literally half the weight but you have to admit the size and weight difference can't be ignored. As far as the cheap ones go… ...

Re: 30 carbine subsonic loading
The USAF played with subsonic .30 carbine ammo using 150gr bt ammo back in the late 60's and decided it wouldn't work for numerous reasons. There is another guy on here with a F1 suppressed carbine who rolls his own loads and had success. His name escapes me but he was happy with the project.

I used to sell them in the aluminum hard case with 3 mags for $1250 out the door. I knew it was a good deal and that I would be able to easily turn it but still didn't want to drop the coin on it. I've shot them several times with and without a can and to me it is another fantastic waste of tax mone...

Even if it was still for sale I guarantee it was tagged for $1400+. That or the owner took it home and put it in the safe laughing at how good a liar he is and how stupid some people are.

(well that and youtube video) Besides, I have seen some pics of German cans and ...

I'm just throwing this out there for you but if you have a "working prototype" then that means you have built your silencer. Done. End of story. You can have a SOT rebuild it for you so long as the tube is in good condition but you cannot rebuild it yourself. That said, you can probably mo...

I'm totally backing Dr. Phil on this one. I work for a PMC here in Iraq and we just let a handful of guys go because the company found minor discrepancies in their records. State does a hell of a check on their own and these guys had no issues but when the company went deeper (on their own) found is...

Re: Could LEO ballistic analyst tell if a suppressor was use
I would seriously doubt that even a skilled forensic examiner could determine if a silencer was used unless it was a wipe style can and assuming that there were no issues with baffle strikes. If it's within a couple feet then GSR or lack of could possibly be an indicator but I really can't think of ...

Re: 788 Rem Integral host???
Personally I'd prefer the 788 to the Ruger for several reasons. First, it's a very accurate rifle by design and will certainly hold its own against any other similar rifle. I also really like the single stack magazine for simplicity. From a gunsmith standpoint, it's also going to be easier to bed in...
