Re: PEW Science Announces the Silencer Sound Standard!

Review 6.15 - More .30 rifle suppressor data for you today - low back pressure silencer this time; the Dead Air Sandman-K. The results of this test did somewhat surprise me. According to the data, the Sandman-K is able to offer more suppression than the Rugged Radiant in its short configuration and...

Re: PEW Science Announces the Silencer Sound Standard!

Review 6.13 - a .30 silencer intended for 5.56mm? Or is it the other way around? This review features the CGS Helios QD. We tested it with both the solid and vented end-caps in the direct-thread configuration. This is a supersonic .308 test. We have actually tested this silencer several times. Its ...

Review 6.12 - more .30 silencer data for you today. This review features the Rugged Radiant on an 18-inch .308 bolt action rifle. We tested it with the tiny M2 muzzle brake. This silencer got pretty popular, quickly. Heck, I bought one myself very early on (the one in the picture it my personal uni...

Re: PEW Science Announces the Silencer Sound Standard!

Review 6.11 - today, we continue to evaluate supersonic .308 suppression. This review features the Sandman-S on an 18-inch .308 bolt action rifle. We tested it with the Keymount Flash Hider. We recently talked about back pressure. So what better way to continue that discussion than with the Sandman...

Review 6.10 - today, we continue to evaluate supersonic .308 suppression. This review features the SilencerCo Omega 300 on an 18-inch .308 bolt action rifle. We tested it with the ASR mount, 3-port brake, and flat end-cap. This is a very prolific silencer. Its performance and mounting system are al...

I started a podcast, and interviewed several silencer manufacturers! (YHM, OSS, Bowers, SilencerCo, and more)

To give back to the online NFA community (and to talk about stuff I find interesting), I started a Podcast! I've been posting on NFATalk.org and the NFA Subreddit - those of you who don't frequent those forums may not have seen the posts. So far, I have published episodes with: YHM OSS Bowers Group ...

Re: When is the Remington R1 enhanced coming out?Silencer ready

Thanks for the info. Was thinking of getting one and then aending the whole thing off to be nitrided. However, perhaps it's better to just buy a custom gun from the outset (Dan Wesson Discretion or STI Host or similar)... Been looking at commander length guns but don't see any with threaded barrels ...

This is a super old thread. Anyone have anything to say about the finish on these guns?

Re: Why didn't I think of this?

I saw this today and was pretty surprised - I hadn't thought of it! Interesting times right now. After reading that internal ATF whitepaper by that lone ATF employee and seeing the reasonable opinions on silencers... and seeing stuff like this.... it's very interesting. Then, however, you have the p...

This is a House subcommittee on Natural Resources, 9/12/17. The SHARE act basically facilitates the expansion and enhan...

Re: What are in inner threads of a trident 9?

I know this is an old thread, but.... did SWR ever give the thread specs out? I have lost, put up, put away or did something with my 1/2-28 fixed adapter. Since I have a lathe and mill I can make my own but would like to confirm the thread pitch. Anyone? I searched my email and I can't find it. The...

Re: So... Uh..... What did I miss???

Oh, also, I PM'd user redtazdog because he has made posts showing how he added moveable mass to a 9mm bolt to turn it into a "deadblow" system, similar to how the buffers use sliding weights. His solution to make the bolt impact quieter was to machine the 9mm bolt to house some tungsten granules, in...

Re: So... Uh..... What did I miss???

New toy. I get 0.004" of a gap between the bolt face and chamber face with a round chambered. Don't want that gap too big, but I did want it greater than zero. Bolt closing still loud, but not as loud. As good as it is gonna get. It's pretty good. Mission accomplished. Build list is shown below, bec...

Re: So... Uh..... What did I miss???

My barrel is chambered too deep. Manufactured by Ballistic Advantage. It is a 5.5" Modern Series. My bolt is perfectly in spec, and is a blemished model I bought for $100 from Spinta Precision. Its bolt pocket depth is 0.125", which is correct. 9mm barrels will work with various chamber depths and I...

Re: So... Uh..... What did I miss???

I measured my bolt pocket. It is in spec, at 0.125" deep. I have no gap between my bolt face and the barrel chamber face with a round chambered, bolt in battery. It is the same as if there is no cartridge in there, at all. At best, the 9mm ammo I use has a case length EXACTLY equal to the chamber de...

Re: I need 9mm AR chamber dimensions.

Have cut 9mm barrel stock into AR barrels in the past. Using a COLT bolt, I cut the chamber such that the end of the case is exposed by 0.130". Means the bolt will just barely clear the barrel putting full force on the end of the case. As you cut the chamber, test fit a case and watch the coverage ...
