Re: combo machines 3 in 1 lathes and mills

My Smithy Granite has been rock solid for 5 years. Nine form 1's plus several barrel shortening projects. I like it because it doesn't take up the space of 2 machines in my garage. If I had unlimited space I would probably go with separate machines but that is not the case. Smithy makes a great prod...

Re: 300BLK Integral Suppressor

I built a 300 BO Ti suppressor and welded it to an 8" barrel. I used 3 cones followed by 3 K baffles. Works great with subs and supers. It fits under the handguard.

Re: Engraving

Thanks for the story. I was heading down the EXACT same path. I found the old pantograph machines on eBay but hadn't pulled the trigger. I will now look at buying a small CNC router or CNC mill to engrave Ti grade9.

Re: Attempting first build .22

I saw that you are in GR. I'm in holland. I bought a lathe from HF two years ago along with tooling. I upgraded last year to a much larger lathe for making a silencer for my rifles. If you are interested then I will make you a killer deal. Then you can make K baffles.

Integral .308 or pinned suppressor

I live in a state that allows silencers but not SBR's. I have a DPMS that I want to suppress but want the total length not to exceed 18 inches. Is it legal to pin a licensed suppressor to a short barrel and create a single stamp weapon?

Re: Fluted Cone Baffles & Design Review

Thank you all for your responses: I have adjusted my baffles to the 60 degree cones and shortened them to 0.75". Along with that I have added two baffles to the design, and varied their spacing. Because I am unaware if the spiral fluting will be a detriment or not, I will leave them straight f...

Re: combo machines 3 in 1 lathes and mills

I believe that the bore on the smithy is 1.17" for the Midas and 1.6" for the Granite model. I enjoy the mill as much as the lathe. I will try to attach a pic of the work I did on my AR10 upper (side charging handle

Re: combo machines 3 in 1 lathes and mills

I started out with a mini but was disappointed with its limitations. I put it on the shelf and bought a used Smithy 1220 LTD. The Smithy is very capable for cutting and threading SS, Al, and even Ti. It comes as a 110 VAC configuration but is also designed to run 220VAC with a simple wiring change. ...
