Re: on form 1: 7.62 or 30 cal

I went with “30 cal.” Eforms has options for either.

Now for the wait!

on form 1: 7.62 or 30 cal

What do you put for caliber? It’s for a 30 cal can. Do I put 7.62 or 30 cal? Does it matter?

Re: Teflon tape

To be honest, I usually use blue loctite for everything. I was just wondering if I could use the tape instead of the dried blue snot.

Form 1 30 cal can

I’ve decided for my next project, I’m going to do a 30 cal can. This will go primarily on my 10” 5.56 AR SBR. At some point I might stick a 300 black upper on it (7.5- 8”). I’m cheap though, so I’ll probably mostly shoot 5.56. Would a 1.5”-2” titanium tube at 5-7” length be ideal for this? I’m not g...

Teflon tape

One of my pistol silencers started coming loose after some shooting the other day. Usually, I’ve blue-loctite-ed the can down. I always thought plumbers tape/Teflon tape would melt. Can I use it on the barrel threads without issue? Can it be used on end caps that come loose as well? I’m assuming one...

A dremel engraver will probably work just as well. Honestly though, why not just take it to be engraved somewhere?

Re: 9mm Suppressor (no tools)

If you have basic tools (hand drill), you can easily make a can from a solvent trap kit. The next level above would be drill, screw driver, and saw to make a 1970s style can with screw together parts. They still do cheapo cans this way in Europe. Anything resembling a modern commercial can that’s no...

Re: Moving with a Form 1 suppressor

5320.20s do not apply/have provisions for Silencers and AOWs. You have no duty to inform. If you call the ATF, they will tell you that you need to send them your new address. If you mention the language on the 5320.20, they will pause for a moment to think and then tell you to include a note on a se...

Re: .25 ACP can

To add... The reason NFA laws always seem unclear is that the NFA was written almost 90 years ago. That’s pre AR-15, multi-cal silencers, and pistol braces. It was written by politicians who (much like today) thought they knew everything. The clearest parts of it (the machine gun part, which was the...

Re: .25 ACP can

Here is the actual language from the atf handbook: —- Q5: May a repair change the dimensions or caliber of a silencer? A: If alterations to a silencer would increase the overall length or change the diameter or caliber of a silencer, this is the making of a new silencer, as opposed to a repair. The ...

Re: .25 ACP can

Ok... just so everyone is on the same page...

This is a FORM 1. I’m making the can.

I wanted to know if making a .25acp can was basically the same as making a .22 can, just putting bigger holes down the center.

I understand the legalities and the Form 1 and can will be marked accordingly.

Re: .25 ACP can

To clarify a couple things here: 1) I’m going the solvent trap or pre made tube route. 2) It’s going to be listed as .25 acp on the Form 1. My initial question was asking if, “a .25 can is really just a .22 can with bigger holes in the baffles.” Basically, yes. 3) I’m sending off all guns to be thre...

Re: .25 ACP can

Yes. I’m hoping to do it all with pre-threaded tubes and minimal effort on my part other than drilling end caps and baffles, after getting my Form 1 back.

.25 ACP can

I want to do my first Form 1 can. I already have two 9mm cans, a shotgun can, and a .22 can, so I figured “what else?”. I’ve got a Beretta 950 in .25acp and I really want to suppress it and always wanted to get a Baby Browning and stick a can on it. So... Will a .22 aluminum tube with over-bored baf...

Re: Glove melted on hot can...how to fix?

Would Gasoline or Kerosene work? I know it eats through Styrofoam and some other synthetics. You'd need to make sure that it doesn't go IN the can though. Also, probably wash the can with soap and water after. Gasoline is not a good ablative medium...

Re: Booster-less micro cans vs slide weight

I think it's 4 oz. or under to keep it cycling. The Thompson Poseidon clocks in at 3.8 oz. As a rule, the lighter the better. In another thread, I was talking about Form 1-ing a can. I'm going to do .25 auto on a fixed barrel, but I was looking at larger calibers on Browning barrels as well. It all ...

Re: When 8 rounds per second seems slow

I shot one at the Texas Firearms Festival last year and the first thing out of my mouth was, "Holy s--t! It really works!" and the SlideFire guy said, "yeah, that's what most people say." They're actually pretty accurate for what they are too. I think in part, because you thrust the gun forward when...

.25 ACP Form 1 Can

I have a Beretta JetFire in .25 ACP that I want to thread and silence. I also have the itch to do a Form 1 can. My machining skills are non-existent, so I'll probably look at going the solvent-trap to silencer route. Can I use a C-cell sized tube for the build? In other words, will a tube built for ...

Re: I think I just wasted 3 months of time

Find some place that does quality laser engraving. The ATF requirements allow for a very small font. The folks with the big letters and such had their guns done on machines that weren't as precise or by folks that weren't very skilled.

Been through this situation last year with a guy moving to Germany as a US contractor. Only a licensed exporter c...

40mm tubes and breaching shotguns

How do these devices, when mounted to an AR, not deform the receiver, barrel, or rail mounts with their recoil? I always thought it would be cool to add one to my AR, but I keep imaging the recoil enlarging the receiver holes or ripping off the rails. Does this ever happen?

Re: Can you ship a silencer?

You can NOT ship a firearm to another country, that is exporting a firearm...you have to take it with you. That's not exactly correct. At one point, a couple years ago, I was looking at a potential move to Germany or the Czech Republic. I inquired about shipping my guns (including silencers). I was...
