Do the six extra holes in the end of the Sandstorm or HVT serve any purpose?

Check out this site and READ a lot! - http://www.cnczone.com/
Start with some of the "benchtop" forums for mills and lathes. Those guys will tolerate us rookies more when we ask stupid questions.

Re: Reduced Wait Times on Form 1's MAY be coming
We had an invite-only Full Auto Shoot in Michigan over the weekend, with several prolific Class III collectors in attendance. One of them told me that friend in the NFA branch stated that they now have hired outside contact labor to speed up with the backlog of all types of NFA forms, based on comp...

Re: See full dimensions for 22 K baffle
More common US K-baffles perform alot better than this design. These are decent performers but don't even touch the realm of what the K is capable of. This design is used by a couple manufacturers in the US with a few little mods to it. Good design for a Form1 guy without much machining experience....

Re: Narrow(er) and short(er) 22lr suppressor tips and tricks
Are you planning to stay with a round concentric design, or are you looking to explore other directions? I don't have a mill, so I hadn't really considered any other options. I don't think my drill press will suffice... I was milling aluminum with my drill press and it was working excellent with qu...

Thats the first I have heard a department willing to take on the liability of a homemade silencer. Just hope its never used in the field, lawyers would have a field day with that one! By the time you are done if you do a decent job it will be around the same cost as the dept could buy one for. Best...

Re: How's the HF 7x10 lathe?
For suppressor parts & the associated lathe work, will the harbor Freight (or the dozen variations of the Teig) 7x10, 7x12, or 7x14 mini lathes work? I'd bet for aluminum they'd be fine, but what about some of the harder steels or ti? I wouldn't expect .0001 precision or accuracy out of one, bu...

Even without measurements its easy to see that its WAY too thin to do anything with. That little nipple won't do much either. Better off looking into racing valve retainers, many have the right bore size or close form the get go, just gotta make them concentric. Can be had made from titanium, ss, i...

I find that discussion of this topic tends to get shut down on most other forums due to concerns about unauthorized use, legalities, etc. Seems this forum is a little more open minded. Speaking from an academic perspective I find the concept of a DIAS mechanically fascinating, but as I'm no machini...

I think you can dip anodized aluminum, especially hardcoat. You can't leave it in forever like stainless, but a good hardcoat layer will offer oodles of protection. Stainless is definately better though if you're up to machining it. pneumagger - you mention hardcoat a couple times - I was just wond...
