Re: Gemtech vs Sparrow vs Cone design?

Well, I wouldn't use word "suck" for monocores. Sure, if you're chasing the best suppression, than you're right. But sometimes, enough is all you need.

Re: Integral Suppressed Sten Form 1 Idea

Bullets that are normally subsonic, ie: 147 & 158grn, could be too slow to reliably shoot. You may end up w/ squib rounds (stuck in barrel) For reference, you do not shoot these weight bullets from an MP5SD. Are you sure about this? Buddy of mine is test shooter for PPU and he is shooting them all ...

Re: Poor suppressor function

Well, it's too late now, but next time, try to shoot suppressed pistol but in a such manner that slide (OK, in this case the bolt) is blocked. For Scorpion, all you need is a few turns of duct tape over and behind those two charging "buttons". If you are happy with a result, than try it without duct...

Re: KAC snap-on wipes thicknes

@ctm, Thanks, for the correction. My buddy found that .25" info somewhere, but didn't do any checking. Obviously, taking anything from Internet as granted is stupid idea. (I know, that smiley that's banging his head against a wall would be a more appropriate.) In that case, the whole thing is...

Re: KAC snap-on wipes thicknes

Now, I do understand what wipes are for. And for sure, they are capable to make some troubles. But, my question is, does stacks of two or three .25" wipes are doing better job than one that is .5" or 0.75" thick? 'Cause, that is what Reed Knight used for his version of "hush puppy". Even Gemtech Aur...

KAC snap-on wipes thicknes

Hey guys! Yesterday I had conversation with an old buddy of mine about some old suppressors, like KAC snap-on and AWC HP9. He noticed that all of them use .25 inch wipes but in different configuration. As you probably know, KAC version use 8 of them, stacked with two spacers (3+3+2). And then my fri...

Re: Design guidelines for an integral rifle silencer?

I found that ports near the round chamber work noticeably better than muzzle brake - better suppression. But making ports right is real pain in the butt. So, I highly recommend using a good muzzle brake. It's not that I'm expert, just a guy who had opportunity to "test" few of these solutions.

Re: FN "baby browning" diy projekt, make adapter and silencer.

20 mm is too much. It's rather about 15 mm. And that bulge on the picture above is to big too. About 2 mm is all you need.

Re: FN "baby browning" diy projekt, make adapter and silencer.

You can always use .22 can with slightly larger holes (8 mm would be fine). Plus, you can also add or use just wipes. It won't be problem for you, because you're not from United States, right? Now, about that spring. All you have to do is to find some guy in local factory to make you stronger one, o...

Re: FN "baby browning" diy projekt, make adapter and silencer.

Browning Baby is hard to suppress. Slide is to light and recoil spring is to weak. That setup is OK for normal shooting but is problematic for use with suppressors. You'll need much stronger recoil spring at least, plus some good suppressor design that won't increase back pressure. Now, such little ...

Re: 308/223 can concept

I've seen similar thing in suppressor for Slovenian submachine gun MGV -176 in 22 lr. Suppressor itself was just enough effective because it was way to short 'cause it was using just this spring type stuff.

Re: Aluminum in a centerfire rifle can

Ok, guys just thing or two from a long time lurker. English is not my first language so have some patience with me. Now... I've seen thousands Al cans and just a very few made out of steel. Most of these Al cans were made by "Ziroskopi" (Gyroscopes) factory for ex Yugo military and rest of these Al ...

For 100 meters zero - sight No. 4 (400 meters). I'm talking about PPU subsonic ammo. But dispersion of hits would be larger.

It's my first post and I know, my english sucks, so don't be hard on me guys. LavaRed, it's possible to use leather soaked in oil. It's been used on some old suppressors, and I'm quite sure that nobody use it anymore. Long time ago I used thick rubber. It's been ok (quiet), but accuracy was poor, as...
