Removing SBR from NFA registry correctly?
I am going back into the military and expect between military schools and possible deployments, there will be a lot of times I will be away from home. My home defense rifle is a 6.8 SBR AR-15 with a 12 inch barrel with a 5.56 SBR upper that is mostly my plinking upper. Although my wife is on my trus...

Re: Scoped deer slayer 6.8 SBR finished
Well some good news, I found the perfect loads...Silver State Armory 85 grain TSX commercial load. The velocity is coming in just above 2900 FPS. At 100 yards, I got 0.58 inch expansion in water.

Scoped deer slayer 6.8 SBR finished
Whoo-hoo! The barrel and my other parts are in to upgrade my 5.56 into a 6.8 deer rifle. SSA 85 grain TSX tactical loads should do well out to 200 plus yards, but this is primarly a 20 to 100 yard gun for Georgia rolling hills. I am looking forward to seeing the results of the 12 inch, SPCII, 1:11 t...

Re: scope on my SBR??
With my 11.5 inch 5.56, I was getting excellent accuracy and good expansion with 70 grain TSX at 60 yards (posted a thread here somewhere) that I believe it would still expand at 100 plus yards. I run an Aimpoint but I have ran a 3-9x40 scope on it which is huge on it, but very nice to pinpoint shot...

Re: SBR Caliber and Barrel Length on a Form 1
I am selling my 11.5 inch 5.56 barrel and replacing it with a 12 inch 6.8 barrel because I can't afford two calibers. When I send in my letter informing the ATF of a permanent change in caliber, barrel length, and overall length, how do I know it has been changed in their system?

Re: Po-boy ballistic test - AR-15 SBR with SSA 5.56 TSX
I have heard velocity losses of 20 to 50 fps per inch depending on the projectile weight. 30 fps seems to be the norm quoted online with 69 grain plus bullets. I decided to err on the side of caution and use the 50 fps loss figure and handloads.com ballistics caculator. 11.5 to 16 inch barrel is a l...

Re: Po-boy ballistic test - AR-15 SBR with SSA 5.56 TSX
did they give you a muzzle velocity with that ammo so i can put it in a ballistics program to see where it drops below 1800 FPS http://www.ssarmory.com/556ammunition-70gr-leadfree.aspx Test barrel: 16 inch Ballistic Coefficient: 0.314 Muzzle Velocity (fps): 2750 Muzzle Energy (ft-lb): 1176 100 Yard...

Po-boy ballistic test - AR-15 SBR with SSA 5.56 TSX
I thought some of the SBR fans here might like this, I setup a simple ballistic test with my SBR. I choose a shorter range because I was worried about getting enough velocity to open the bullet from such a short barrel. Plus I haven't bush-hogged the pasture lately and the grass was too high to get ...

Re: AR-15 SBR Length?
My 11.5 is dead on reliable and will still open up 70 grain TSX at 60 yards nicely and possibly at 100 yards. Granted, I am running a 1:7 barrel

Best 9mm host for Hollywood quite setup?
I am looking at 9mm host for primarly subsonic shooting with a Trident-9 or Ti-Rant. It will also need to pull double-duty as a home defense and occassion concealed carry with standard super-sonic ammo.

Mark seems to be under an increasing heavier work load every time I talk to him. I love the personal service and detailed information from PSI, but I think that is a major downfall when you're dealing with all the workload they have. Hopefully thing will slow down or they will bring in some more help.

Anyone SBR'ed a .458 SOCOM? My local gun shop has a RRA .458 SOCOM that is just begging me to buy and cut down to 10 inch for a second upper my SBR lower. Gun store guy says 10 inch will still get 90% of the velocity.
