Re: Newbie 'M' baffle question

I don't recall you having said you clipped those parabolic cones... Did you? I think they were extremely thin, and what, 3 of them in the tube? Something about the construction being rather fragile, at least in the first iteration... Spacer tubes too thin? Two of them got accidentally dented, and i...

Re: Hi guys!

The idea of asymmetrical baffles and an offset barrel appeal to me, but with my very humble equipment - a miniature TAIG lathe with a crude milling attachment, and a wobbly drill press - making anything relatively sophisticated such as offset-bore K baffles is unlikely. I could try making a 7075 mo...

Re: Hi guys!

Well yes, things become outdated, and with your obvious leaning towards innovation, both personal and in suppressor design (couldn't help myself), it would be surprising if that old experimental model were still your main thing. Thanks again for the insights brought from that experiment, which seem...

I made a parabolic baffle- carbon-fiber tube mini can years ago, in .22LR. It is my most silent.

Hey Vera, good to see you checking back here. It has indeed been rather slow, with the annoying exception of a few dozen pages of Chinese spam for a week or two recently. I've missed your contributions, as I stopped visiting nfatalk. Too much testosterone around that place. Hey, wasn't you who was ...

Re: Hi guys!

Well... you'll be pleased to know I recently completed a Ruger Mk. I Integral build. It isn't a very original subject, and I did reuse a core design, but I trialed a couple of features I'd wanted to for a while. It wasn't impressive, but it wasn't bad either. I'll post pics in a while.

Honestly, not much. Especially with the completed builds thread.
Well that's sad! Maybe it just needs the female touch!

Re: Transgender people and people who need to switch genders

So I noticed you went through the whole laser hair removal thingy. How long and expensive is the process? I myself have been thinking about getting it for quite some time now. I'm almost 27 and I have been waxing since I was 13. I find body hair disgusting and dirty and very unpleasant especially d...

Re: Transgender people and people who need to switch genders

I'm 100% sure that the root of being transgender is not sexual. I've had sex with girls, as a man. I enjoyed it. Lots. I am fairly certain the women I did it with enjoyed it too. Still, that did not "turn" me. It did not change my fundamental view of myself even one jot.

Re: Transgender people and people who need to switch genders

I hope it all works out for you, I really do. That said, I think sex reassignment is like giving an anorexic person a gastric band. Their self identity (truly believing in their core that at 80lbs they are fat) is not accurate. Surgically validating their belief isn't helping them. I read recently ...

Re: Transgender people and people who need to switch genders

The child metaphor is great. I've watched my kids grow up. I've seen my friends' kids grow up. I believe the biggest part of who we are is there from birth, except for the influence a major crises helps in programing us. I also think that identifying with a gender is not a choice. Like you, I belie...

Re: Transgender people and people who need to switch genders

Go Lava. I believe in choice... with consequence. Everyone should have the freedom to do what they want as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else. If your actions harm others, you should have to pay for them. Agreed. I was taught early in life that every decision has a consequence (or several). I full...

I would not safely go less than 1/16" wall thickness. Also, I would not press fit. Four allen screws radially placed around the endcap will do just fine and much better than a press fit.

I highly doubt that this points to them being non- warlike. At least here on Earth, nearly all of the great technological advances have been the result of a war and the drive to prevail over other peoples. I don't see why this shouldn't be different elsewhere. Everything is conflict, without conflic...

Re: Difference in sound for different material?

I explored this one years ago, and the material choice does make a difference, if only a minor one. Like everything in this universe, a suppressor vibrates, no matter how tight it is. And different materials do vibrate at different frequencies. The tube material is especially important, far more so ...
