Re: I F'ed up
I have been told by the ATF that the length is not a critical specification and that even if my length did not match my approved form I would be fine. Notifying the ATF of changes after it is approved is recommended but not required by law. If I decide to change calibers there is no legal requiremen...

Re: Building 1st Can - Questions on Tweaking the Design
No there is no leeway for making multiple parts. Once you make a part for the silencer you are done. Each replacement part would require a new tax stamp, or send your can to an 07/02 for a rebuild and no need for more stamps. What is a 07/02? Basically it is an FFL licensed by the government to dea...

Re: Quieter 300 Blackout
Powder choice can have a HUGE impact on noise levels at a given velocity. You want the fastest burning powder that will cycle the gun at the desired FPS. And for most that is several steps faster than A1680. I have also metered powders against each other. I cannot measure actual dB but I can compare...

Re: Making an AR15 quieter, the weapon not the suppressor
So I made up a 10oz buffer over the weekend. I've got a design for a 13-14oz buffer as well, and have some ideas for even heavier ones if necessary. I'll give the 10oz one a try this coming weekend and see if it makes any (subjective) impact to the chamber bark. Any luck? Subjectively, yes, the hea...

Re: Making an AR15 quieter, the weapon not the suppressor
Ill second the JP captured recoil system. I installed it in my blackout and it really helped. The most noticeable sound with the can was the spring twanging inside the buffer tube till I put that in there. As with all JP stuff, its expensive but worth it. If I go this route I will just make my own....

Re: Making an AR15 quieter, the weapon not the suppressor
I have tried very heavy buffers as well as really light buffers. I also tuned the gas impulse with my adjustable gas block. I was considering drilling vents opposite to the vents in the side of the bolt but after shooting my gun with the suppressor muzzle against the ground I realized the gun isn't ...

I picked up 2K of CCI Quiet 22. I really like them because they feed just fine. I am going to clip a few coils from my SR-22 so they will cycle with my suppressor.

Re: 3AL 2.5V tube wall for a .30cal build
I am using .035" wall for my 300 Blackout. I have shot subsonic as well as supersonic 300 Blackout through it. I have also used a thread adapter to use it for my 20" 5.56 AR as well as a 22" 223 bolt gun.

Re: Clipping cones / best form to clip them
Just a few crazy questions. Normally cones are clipped with rounded cuts. I wonder if it would affect performance, either good or bad, if the cuts were either square or a V notch? I guess it would be easy enough to test for someone who is building, cut in a V notch then turn it into a rounded notch....

I got a reply from the ATF technology branch related to the brake design. I submitted cad drawings with dimensions and verbal description. Re: How precise on length dimension stipulated on Form 1?
I was told you could go shorter but could not go longer as far as length goes. And as far as the bore you could go bigger but not smaller. I received this as part of an email I got from an agent: Trust me when I say you are not being unlawful by possessing this firearm and the overall length not mat...

Making an AR15 quieter, the weapon not the suppressor
I have a Form 1 suppressor I have built. It has a 1.5" outer tube and a 125" inner tube with K baffles. The blast chamber of the 1.25" tube vents into the space between the two tubes. With ammunition at ~1,000 fps, and loaded specifically for a single shot, I can hear the hammer fall ...

I wonder if the state of Georgia could sue that group for defamation? These people do not care what the facts are and actually knowingly spread false information to support their screwed up liberal agenda. I had a serious discussion with a die hard liberal, who is my wife's friend, about gun ownersh...

Re: atf online form 1 help for self manufactured silencer
I just tried it and if you list the code of FMI I have not figured out how to list a unique model name. I see the name of a previous suppressor I F1d but I cannot create a new one. After you input FMI check the "My item description is not in the list, create new item." box, and that will ...

There is a seller on eBay that sells 3AL 2.5V for cheap. It all has .035" wall and he sells it for ~$30 a foot shipped. I have bought several tubes from him in the past year and it is great. I used it for me recent Form 1 build. He buys it as scrap from the aerospace industry. He is a great guy...

Thanks for the kind words. I am feeling a lot better now but still no where near 100%. At this point I am concerned over the residual swelling as well as what damage I might...

Sorry I had not responded, I had a very, very bad reaction to some medicines I started taking. This kept me occupied for the last 5 days. Re: Buying a QD mount and end cap?
I am getting ready to build a F1 suppressor. It will be a 30 caliber using Ti and SS. I have everything needed and can easily build a direct thread but would like to have a QD setup so I can move it around a little easier from host to host. I plan on using it on a SBR AR, a T/C Contender pistol, a ...

Re: Question on tapered pore cans
I did a lot more shooting with my can today. And it is definitely quieter with the baffles in reverse order. With bulk ammo at subsonic velocities as well as true subsonic ammo. Also, with the uniform heating is seems to be more consistent as well. This tells me that everything is being used more ef...

Re: Question on tapered pore cans
When I first built my can the bore was so tight, .234"-.240", I was worried about debris getting on the mating surfaces and causing a misalignment. That is why I did a taper bore in the first place. I had read about some of the can makers doing the same with their 223 cans so I figured it ...
