@Gunny, GoPro Hero 3 black (240 FPS on VGA)
@whiterussian, Im not sure the impax would handle those kinds of strains. Maybe some softer alloy would, it would certainty be a good idea. I've seen a guy who made a jig to do this, but his cones were far from 60 degs.

Re: My new .338 edge silencer
thanks. looks like someone has added it. Thinking of cutting down on the thickness of the tube. Any hints on a sufficient thickness?

Re: My new .338 edge silencer
Your threading looks very nice, why did you decide to weld one end and thread the other? Thank you. Yes, one end is welded to save time. I dont care that much if i cant get it apart, because the pressure and flow is so high that i doubt there will be much buildup. I have taken it apart once, and it...

Re: My new .338 edge silencer
thinking of slicing off a bit on the outer tube. What do you guys suggest as wall thickness? Im burning almost 100gr slow burning powder in this bad boy... Im thinking of 2mm thick at the blast chamber and 1,5mm at the rest? What kind of pressures or loads do you use if you'd do FEM analysis? I was ...

Re: My new .338 edge silencer
Thanks for the kind words! Ive put together a short movie most of which is the pictures you've already seen, but at the end there are a couple of clips of me shooting it. First clip a friend is using it with the defensive edge brake (note his lack of bipod pressure lets the rifle hop) (and pardon th...

Re: My new .338 edge silencer
thanks! Its finally done with the correct threads. I also have made an internal muzzle brake to stop the gasses more efficiently: http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h266/magmyk/null_zpsf59f19c1.jpg http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h266/magmyk/null_zps088bb135.jpg http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h2...

Re: My new .338 edge silencer
based on the measurements of the previous owner i thought the threads were 5/8"-26 tpi, but it was 5/8"-24 UNEF tpi :? Therefore i will have to thread up the silencer inner thread insert blank to this thread before im able to test it. It does however go on a couple of turns so i can take s...

Re: My new .338 edge silencer
Looks really great! My two questions though are 1.Why did you use welded seam tube instead of DOM and 2. Why didn't you go with 60 degree cones? 1: I went with the tube I had available. Paid nothing for the materials, and I think it'll work ok... The baffles seems to be aligned well. 2: to save mat...

My new .338 edge silencer
This is a can for a 338 edge mainly for range use. I have focused on a durable and solid design rather than light weight. 300mm long, 42mm diameter and ca. 1200g. Baffles of impax steel: http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h266/magmyk/null_zps0bbb2937.jpg http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h266/magmyk/...

Review my specs for a high power silencer
Hi. Im going to make a silencer for my 338 Edge (338-300RUM), and the available material Ive thought of using is: Outer tube: 42mm x 2mm 304 SL stainless steel. Inner tube (telescopic) 24mm x 2mm stainless steel (unknown type). Baffles: Cones made of Impax yield strength of appx. 120000PSI / 800 MPa...

Re: Subsonic 30-06 experiments
I was able to stabilize 220gr RNSP bullets in my .30-06 R93. Like Fulmen, i used N310, and it gave good precision and low SD with just about 10gr powder...

Re: 75-gr. A-MAX good to go for subsonic 223?
Its not a hollow point, but it probably will expand. it expands a lot in supersonic speeds, and the mantle is pretty thin. I think you might experience stability issues with a bullet like that in sub sonic velocity. What is you twist rate? I use the 80gr Amax in my 223 with 1:8" twist (and love...

Ill go for the 60 deg. cone, and see what kind of steel i can get for the disks and use aluminium for the spacers.

Re: Silencer design and precision
The silencer is telescopic (directly translated from norwegian), so it builds backwards over the barrel, so the blast chamber is pretty large. the total length of the can is about 280mm or 11".Bendersquint wrote: So 4 inches? Thats a pretty small internal area.

Re: Silencer design and precision
i'll be going for the cone and spacer design for the a-tec now, the question is how many... the lengt inside is 103mm, that is 5 * 20mm modules (se pic above) and one different front spacer that is 3mm. Im thinking about 6 pcs. 3mm disks and 5 pcs. 14mm cylinder spacers. What do you guys think?

@ cpt. link: This is for a .223, but the silencer is made for 6,5mm (.264), when i make the new internals i think i'll use 6mm hole (?). @ Paul. its an older model: http://www.gunmart.net/images/content/accessories_reviews/287/B.JPG http://www.gunmart.net/images/content/accessories_reviews/287/D.JPG...

Silencer design and precision
Hi. im currently thinking about making new internals for my A-tec (norwegian brand) silencer, because the original is eroded pretty bad, and im sure it affects the precision of my rifle. I was thinking about making K-baffles, because thats pretty effective (my understanding), but i wonder if the &qu...
