Re: Launched my SilencerCo Omega300 - Repair?

Once upon a time the manufacturer could replace the tube with one having the same serial number. Don't think that is allowed any more. That being said, SIlencerco can probably just replace the stack. They are very, very good. See what happens. It must be legal and Silencerco does understand current ...

Backpressure more: Specwar or Saker?

Guys,

Which 308 suppressor generates more backpressure ... the Silencerco Specwar or the Silencerco Saker?

May have to change from a Specwar to a Saker on a 308 piston rifle.

Thanks!

I also have an original Saker and and a Specwar. Have used the Saker on a 12.5" 6.8. Works well. The Specwar has been mounted on 16" and 12.5" 308s. Is a great can for LOUD rifles. Really takes the nastiness out of the 12.5" 308 SBR which is very exciting without it!

Re: Lead Acetate Disposal Question

Organic lead (like lead acetate) is VERY toxic and is easily absorbed by living things! Be VERY careful in handling it!!!! Lead chloride, however, is not very soluble and easily precipitated from the liquid solution of lead acetate and water. Just add table salt ... make sure you use enough that pre...

Re: badly damaged ears, need help for omega/300 blk setup

I also have two 300 BLKs. Both are used subsonic with 220 gr SMK loads. One is a 1:8 twist 16" fitted with a 30 caliber SAS Ti Arbiter suppressor. Is VERY, very quiet. The other is a 1:7 twist 8.5" CMMG barrel fitted with a 3 lug. I use a 9mm SIlencerco Octane 9 HD can. Is easily hearing s...

Re: Flash Hider or Muzzle Brake Under Can?

I suspect that an MB also adds a bit of back pressure which can accept mechanism performance in a semi automatic rifle whose gas system is already a bit generous ... such as the Desert Tech MDR. Extraction and ejection are more vigorous with the MB even when not suppressed. Is showing marks on the b...

Re: Beware- swaging 300 BLK in 5.56 upper with H-110 - NOT recommended!

I picked up some plastic IMI mags that have a protrusion at the base as part of the means for closing the spring in the magazine. They are visibly different from all other magazines I have that can be used with 5.56 ... and the difference can be felt in the dark. I load 300 BLK in ONLY those IMI mag...

Re: considering 9mm AR PDW build...

You might consider SBRing a SIG MPX ... are VERY quiet with an Octane 9 and Fiocchi 158 grainers. Piston should be more reliable. Have had no difficulty with a Colt 9mm smg upper but must admit that the Glock mags ought to be better. The SIG mags are definitely better but are costly. With supersonic...

Re: 9mm vs 300 Blackout/Whisper Suppressed....bear with me.

The use you intend for the weapon is most important. I have both ... 9mm pistol and SBR fitted with Octane 9 HD, 16" 300 BLK fitted with SAS Ti Arbiter can; 8.5" 300 BLK AR SBR fitted with Octane 9 on a 3 lug. Also have an MPX. MPX is quietest with Octane 9 HD and 158 gr Fiocchi subs. Damn...

Have an Octane 45 mounted on the HDPS UMP 45 SBR. Works great.

Using an Octane 9HD on the SIG MPX pistol. Is VERY quiet w 158 gr Fiocchi ;-) Same threads as on the SIG Mk25.

Re: MPX silencer options?

I was thinking of going to a 3 lug on the MPX as I do with a 9mm and a 300 BLK SBR. I contacted TROS and ask if they had a non-catalog 3 lug adapter for the thread on the MPX. They do. I decided against doing it as I'd like to use the same can on the MPX and the MK25. Have had no problems at all wit...

Re: MPX silencer options?

MPX with Octane 9 and proper threaded piston with spacer is almost Hollywood quiet with 158 gr Fiocchi 9mm ammo and is very accurate. A SIG MK25 makes a very nice companion piece ;-)

Am amazed to hear the description of a short 308 as having the muzzle blast of a 12 gauge w birdshot. I have a POF-USA 12.5" SBR'd P308. Without the can, full power ammo is VERY exciting! With a 7.62 Specwar is very nice ... but the overpressure would likely make it very uncomfortable in a conf...

Don't have a Reaper, but have had a TOMB Ti Arbiter for some years now. Performance is superb on 5.56, 300 BLK, 6.8 and 308 cal rifles. Have seen very, very little change in impact point with it. I also have Specwar and Saker 308 cans. I like the Arbiter enough that when I was looking for a 338 can ...

So far ... basically a non-event ... as it should be!

We've had "shall issue" carry permits for some years and legal open carry as well. Legislature passed and enforced a local law preemption as well. Permits have reciprocity with 34 states.

Good place ;-)

An MPX with an Octane 9 using 158 gr Fiocchi is as close to 'Hollywood quiet' as a 9mm gets I think.

This setup should be most interesting indeed!

Re: Help Pick Next SBR

I would suggest a 12.5" 6.8 AR based SBR. Is the most power you can put into a supersonic suppressed SBR and still be usable in a confined space. Good for hunting up to 250 yards of so with Hornady 120 gr SSTs. A 12.5" 308 based SBR is spectacular for sure, but even with a very good 308 su...

Re: Anyone suppress an M60?

Will have to look at the E3 bbl to see if it is adjustable. Brake on that bbl would make it easiest to mount an adapter for the can.

Did send a note to M60joe to see if he has any comments.

I wouldn't expect greatly effective suppression from an open bolt auto. Must admit am curious.

Have shot a suppressed semi Vector SBR. I found it frankly had a substantial thump recoil. Lots of metal moving around ... A semi auto UMP is much more pleasant. I do understand however, that the full auto vector is quite controllable whereas it is said that the full auto 45 UMP is not. Interesting ...

Re: Sig MCX vs. MPX

Depends on the service you expect to see from the weapon. If for CQB defense, the 300 BLK is more potent than the 9mm. The 220 gr subsonic load tends to upset on impact and flat spin through the target ... at least that's what I've seen on deer. In a short barrel (1:7 twist 8.5") stabilization ...

Re: SBR Build for Omega Questions

I have SBRs in both 5.56 and 300 BLK. 5.56 is cheaper to shoot. 300 BLK is much quieter. Velocity of M193 ball from my 11.5" 1:7 bbl was 2647 fps. Comfortable to shoot with a Saker. Pretty darned loud without a can. I went to 8.5" on the 300 BLK because it was to be suppressed. Works fine ...
