Re: 45-70 350gr sub-sonic load?
Thank you for the reply. I'm in the same boat, looking at loads for Berry's 350gr plated bullets and then will start to work on a 480gr Lyman cast bullet that I will powder coat. I need to take a chronograph to the range soon, but shot some with (I think, I'll double check) 11.5 gr Titegroup, very l...

Re: Rimfire or 5.56 can on 22 Hornet?
as others I would assume the majority of what you hear is the bullet going trans sonic. I don't think the can would make much of a difference. if you run subs then it could make a much bigger difference... but I haven't shot mine yet. just out of curiosity for future reference, is it hearing safe wi...

Re: A pre-treating method to reduce .22 suppressor baffle cleaning time seems to have been found.
A couple of points- if you go this route with the brake fluid make sure you get 5.0 fluid. it's silicon based. most harley davidson shops would stock it and I assume you can get it most other standard car parts places as well. DO NOT CONFUSE THIS WITH STANDARD DOT 3, 4, OR 5.1 FLUID! The 5 is silico...

Re: Beware- swaging 300 BLK in 5.56 upper with H-110 - NOT recommended!
scary. I reload many calibers and even though some calibers are easy to convert from one to another, I try to never have something that isn't headstamped for the correct caliber. I don't do anything with blackout (yet!) but I already have a bunch of proper headstamp brass so when i do go that route ...

Re: Do Digital Sound Meters meet testing requirements?
very interesting discussions about the standards. I have worked in the motorcycle industry (dynomometers for HP) and outdoor industry (FL-1 standard for lights, NFPA/ANSI testing for rescue equipment) and spent a lot of time looking at different issues. It would seem that the ASA would be interested...

ruger 77/44 or 77/357 and a can. bolt action, rotary magazine, quiet. easy to load subsonic. 44 mag/special with any 240gr bullets. 38 with 158gr bullets and the right powder load. quiet, and a decent weight bullets. lever actions are good but threading them can be difficult depending upon the magaz...

Re: Need Advice On Selceting First Can.
I'm in the same boat. I concluded at a 22lr (sparrow) and a 45 can that you can disassemble would be the best "starter" setups. I'll probably get an Octane to go with the sparrow but you might look at the Liberty Mystic or something similar. Sooner rather than later, I'll get a 30 cal rifl...

Re: New life for the .22 Hornet
Having said that, thought the primary advantage of the 22 hornet was the ability to shoot 22 LR projectiles at warp speed. Would think using a std 5.56 round would be easier to get to where you are. normally yes to the higher velocity of the hornet vs. 22lr. but then again you could just go to the ...

Re: .22 Hornet barrel length
i just did a quick search and it looks like Green is the only one doing custom twist barrels for the contender/encore frames. My Ruger 77 is 1:14 but my other concern is I am assuming loading a heavy bullet (65+gr) is it going to be very long OAL and probably wouldn't work in the 77/22h rotary magaz...

Re: .22 Hornet barrel length
so are you shooting the hornet with subs? any other info would be appreciated. I've got a 77/22H and a contender barrel in 22h. Never really even considered trying to make subs for the hornet. I just figured a can would be nice for not having to wear ear protection if I happen to be shooting it..

Re: newb from GA...saker 556 on a 22lr?
depending upon your 22 rifle, the subsonic ammo might be going super (longer barrel, colder temps, etc).
see if you can find some lower velocity 22lr ammo and try that before you hang it up.
running a few rounds of 22 thru the can shouldn't affect it much. I wouldn't shoot a bunch.

Re: 9mm pistol cans on 357/38 rifles; who's doing it?
any particular reason ya'll went with the 38/357 w/ 9mm can vs. a 44special/mag with a 45 can? I'm about to get a 45 can and have been looking at getting my 96/44 (ruger lever action 44mag, same basic idea as the 77/44) threaded but I've seen some going with the 357/9mm route recently. I was thinkin...

Re: Any new insight???
my understanding is that most of the powder manufacturers are using the powder to make ammunition instead of selling it separately. they make more money on the final ammunition than on the powder and since demand for most ammo is still pretty high, it's hard to find. I have heard that it's getting b...

Re: Henry no longer at SWR/Silencerco?
.Mil contracts have far far more potential for volume than commercial sales. Why do you say that .mil is not innovation or price driven? Its quite the opposite. I guess what I was saying is that the differences from 5-8 years ago vs. today- looking at innovation and price points in the silencer ind...

Re: Henry no longer at SWR/Silencerco?
not that I've been around a long time but just watching trends over the past few years. AAC was considered the bomb for a long time. innovative designs, cool company, etc. They got bought out and had lots of internal changes. About the same time, SWR/SilencerCo seemed to ride the tide and became the...

glad to hear that AAC staff are excited about the change. glad to see at least something about the Tacsol can. so I saw mention of staying away from the TC 357 barrels and some mention of the 44 mag barrel. I had considered threading a 44mag barrel and having some fun with that, but should I go with an aftermarket barrel or is the OE barrel OK to use in 44mag? I've got a 22lr barrel and would be nice to thre...

I have an SBX barrel with a hogue overmolded stock. great combo, love the feel and it's very quick handling because it's short. Re: All things equal 300 Blackout, 357 or 44 which is quiete
good question that I'm curious to hear the answers as well. I had been planning on a 45 can (tirant or octane) and using it for 45acp as well as sub 44mag out of a lever action. then a 30 cal can for 300 and 308 use. I've heard a few different versions but never back to back and never with the same ...
