Oh Jebus, you're gonna make Emilio cryrimshaker wrote:Also keep in mind the Octane endcap (and the tube) is only 6061 anodized aluminum, not the stronger 7075 type like in the Tirant.

Re: 9mm can
Like I mentioned, the Tirant is uniformly quieter than the Octane over a wider range of ammo loads/brands. Not by a lot, but enough to notice. The K-baffles have the advantage. Also the Tirant's piston housing design is superior. It encases the entire piston/spring, which ultimately muffles the muz...

Re: 9mm can
Ok ok 147 I could dream of a 247 grain 9mm projectile though
Are you suggesting that if the other guys Octane sounds good that I should swap end caps to see if that improves the sound of mine? Has there been a design change in end caps?

Re: 9mm can
I will be attending an AR15.COM shoot in a month or so and I will have another 20+ sets of ears. If I'm full of s--t or correct, either way I'll update this thread immediately after. Bonus points! One of the guys attending with also have an Octane 9 and 45, his first suppressors. It would be awesome...

Re: 9mm can
I guess some people would prefer a more quiet suppressor. Denial of stainless fans? (can this be a new thing?) I shoot Montana Gold TMJ, so no need to shoot lead and no need to clean lead. Carbon which doesn't wipe right off my inferior aluminum baffles is quickly brushed off with a nylon brush. Th...

Re: 9mm can
For the most part I agree. I will say that every ounce and every inch at the end of a pistol makes a difference. I really wonder about those that seem obsessed with the ablity to clean the octane over the TiRant. Are you guys really cleaning your Octane that often? If so, why? I really get a kick o...

Re: 9mm can
Thank you Historian! This site and AR15.com have provided tons of information which have guided me to those purchases. themonk: The Mystic is an awesome do it all suppressor. Originally I purchased it just for a dedicated 22 can to be run with my M11/nine and M16 conversion. It sounds great in 22 an...

Re: 9mm can
Doesn't matter to me what a meter says, if my ears are ringing its too loud. I would suggest that the current Octane owners shoot a TiRant. Ears ringing? I've never had my ears ring and I HAVE shot both. The Octane IS quiet and have owned them since they first came out. The TiRant might be a hair q...

Re: CAC 9 and VERS 9 comparison?
Has anyone fired the CAC 9 and the VERS 9 side by side? I already have a CAC 9 but was wondering if upgrading the baffle stack to VERS 9 specifications for $100- would be worth it? My CAC 9 is only about a year old and has the latest baffle stack, suppressor will see most use on an M11/nine. Sit ti...

I wouldn't say NO first round pop, but much less than my Sparrow.vike wrote:hmm. the Spectre sounds like a strong choice. Good price and built like a tank. No FRP? That may be the one for me thanks Is the Kodiak noticeably quieter than Spectre?

Ok Emilio, you owe my wife a cutting board. Will finish this project tomorrow, the inside of the handle just took a little filing to accept the fixed barrel mount. http://www.hunt101.com/data/557/medium/Wrench1.jpg http://www.hunt101.com/data/557/medium/Wrench2.jpg http://www.hunt101.com/data/557/me...

Re: Finally obtained both of my cans, Octane question
Hey Hyrule, as promised . From a piece of 3/8" HDPE ($1.75 a lbs in scrap sheets) strong but soft. Used Band saw, drill press, sander. Made to use on or off the gun, came up with a way to fit the handle to the end cap so not to get hands dirty with the piston. ( that took some head scratching)...
