Re: Caliber choice for TC Encore Pistol

So did you end up getting one yet? And do you reload, or are you limited to factory ammo? Because that might influence what would be the best choice for you. There are a lot of good chamberings out there that are either difficult to find factory ammo in, or that won't come near to the potential avai...

Is this a service you would be offering? Have you done any yet? Photos?

I'm mildly interested.

Re: Suppressing 40 cal

9mm has much lower muzzle pressure though. Overall sound signature is the combination of several factors working in tandem. Agreed. I don't think I've shot them back to back, but I have both .40 and .45 barrels for my Uzi. But my impression is that .45 sounds louder than .40 (or 9mm), when shot thr...

Re: Suppressor recommendations for 300BLK SBR?

Planning on a new system for 300BLK, SBR, suppressed. Looking for system recommendations of both the rifle and the suppressor. Looking for the best options that get closest to the criteria, and why. Are there new designs coming soon that I should wait for? Criteria: 1) No ear ringing, retaining aud...

But when you shoot a 9mm through that same .45-sized aperture, it's quieter than either the .40 or .45 ammo.

Not to mention most of the rest of the Bowers line (.45 & .50 cans).

Also a number of discontinued cans with interchangeable mounts like the Trident-9.

Re: TC Encore vs Contender

Suppressed SBR? The Contender will handle most common subsonic calibers you want for that role. If I ever get an Encore, it will be for larger supersonic stuff. I've got a couple of .357 barrels, .22LR, 300 Whisper, .223. Maybe one or two others. The lighter Contender does all of them just fine. htt...

Re: All SS sealed can, and "the dip"?

Rapid fire from SBR or F/A will blast most of it out. I can attest to that. I've got a small (1"x 6") stainless rifle can that sees a lot of .22LR. I've used the dip on it a few times with good results. I recently ran a couple hundred .223 throuh it, and I'll say it's the cleanest it has ...

My goal is basically to find the quietest can on the market whether it exists now or this next year. Don't worry. Once you figure out what the absolute quietest can is, as soon as you pay for it and send off your paperwork, something quieter, lighter, smaller, better will be released.

Actually, it does not say anything about silencers or AOWs. But your point holds true with MGs, SBRs, SBSs, and DDs.

From the NFA handbook... https://www.atf.gov/files/publications/download/p/atf-p-5320-8/atf-p-5320-8.pdf While a somewhat handy reference, the NFA handbook is not the LAW. There are a number of instances in it where the ATF inferrs something when the actual legal requirements are less stringent. Th...

Re: Disapproved on a 5320.20

As much as they like to make you think otherwise, ATF does not have the authority to regulate intra-state travel. That is why you have to file papers when you cross state lines, but not county/city/neighborhood/property lines. Any of those would fall under state law. List one address and go. Travel ...

Re: Ruger 10/22 into an SBR Charger, barrel length?

4"- 4.5" will keep most bulk pack subsonic, anything longer won't. That has been my experience as well. Also, my 10/22 would not run reliably with a 4" barrel and no suppressor. If you plan to only shoot suppressed, it shouldn't be an issue. A factory barrel cut to 4.5" seems to...

Re: Is it legal to convert one caliber of silencer to another caliber?

Technically it is legal. But ATF will want you to pay them another $200 for "remanufacturing" that silencer.

I tend to agree with the others, to just shoot 9mm through it as-is.

X-ray of my Trident-9

I've had a Trident-9 since 2006. Since then, most manufacturers have gone to designs that can be disassembled. And while the (aftermarket) option exists to have my can made user-serviceable, I've never done anything with it. It is just like it was when I first bought it. I haven't ever shot any bare...

I've got a CAC-45 that I've compared to a couple of my 9mm cans, trying for as close to the same host subgun as possible. The differences I can hear shooting them are more in tone than in volume. If not shot side-by-side, I'd be hard pressed to say one was louder than the other. https://www.youtube....

Had mine cut to 16.5 and had to start to using a scope. Made it a little handier. Same here. Or if you still want the option of using the iron sights, I put some Tech Sights on my SBR. The front sight can go in the rear dovetail, and the rear sight is mounted to the receiver. You won't get the same...

As long as it is paid ANYONE can pay for it, neighbors, friends from Germany, anyone. Correct. ATF doesn't care who the $200 comes from. But the way the regs are written, the transferror is the party who is responsible for it being paid. Of course, it's all academic at this point. Because if no one...

I just tried out a load this weekend using AA#2 and a 180 gr. XTP, loaded to .357 length, in a .38 Spl. case (.357 Special, maybe? It makes it easy to tell the subsonic loads on sight). It sounded good, and velocity was just under 900 fps. I didn't shoot for groups, but it was hitting quite a bit lo...

I have one that i cut down to about 2" in length and have mounted on the mount-end of my Bowers VERS 9S. I use it primarily to keep the can tight on my fullauto M11/9 when firing. Really? That doesn't seem like much length to grip. I'd think after a couple of mag dumps you'd still run the risk...
