Re: Which 300W-Fireball barrel would you prefer/buy?

I have had good luck with my 300/221 AR-15 using a 7.5" barrel. I really only use it for subs though, for supers I would want a ~10" barrel. I did have to shorten my DD Lite 7.0 rail a bit for it to fit, but no big deal. I am pushing 200 and 220 gr projos to 1040 FPS using between 9 and 10...

Re: NEW DTA Nano Titanium Suppressors

Unfortunately I have not gotten around to threading my Skorpion yet. One thing about pretty much all .32 Autos is that they are blowback guns so depending on the mass of the bolt/slide assembly, they may have significantly more action noise than a locked breech gun like the Glock. I have fired some ...

Re: NEW DTA Nano Titanium Suppressors

Just wanted to add my .02 as an owner of a Nano. So far I have only used it on a Glock 17, and on that host it does indeed work absolutely fine unboosted. It also seems to reduce recoil and muzzle flip significantly which could be just due to the extra weight out front. Overall balance is only minim...

I use a respirator and chemical gloves. Also, get yourself some cheap kitchen tongs to pick the baffles and parts out of the dip with. The leftover solution is very toxic, but can be made inert with salt (which is dirt cheap), or so I hear. Can somebody verify this salt thing who has a chemistry ba...

guys, I build barrels, including AR barrels.

I dont really advertise because I don't have the time to do a lot of them, but if anyone needs a whisper barrel built feel free to shoot me an email and I can most certainly get it made faster than what you are talking.

I've spoke with different shops today about this, and the one common opinion is that it won't be real easy to do right. Originally I was thinking the mount could be bored and then light press-fit and welded to the barrel, but was warned away from that approach. The shops you are talking to either d...

I own a TP-9, and have been wanting to suppress it BUT, I have been waiting to hear from the early adopters IE you 8) You are correct in that the design does not lend itself to increased back pressure. this is also probably why the B&T can for the TP-9 is so huge, to decrease backpressure. I kno...

I don't see what is so wrong about someone charging money for a service, especially when it costs that someone money to perform the service. I would definitely go with the Redding dies.

I would also mount the barrel with a dummy round, no need for gauges.

the shorter the barrel is on a tilting barrel gun, the closer the front bushing is to the rear locking lugs. This makes the vertical pressure between the barrel and the slide much higher if you have weight hanging on the front of the barrel because of the reduced lever arm distance. Longer barrels o...

Grease isnt going to help a bit. The problem with the steyr is not the barrel, it is the hardness of the slide. It only has a very thin surface hardening, and once it has worn through, the softer steel underneath wears very quickly. Your gunsmith should have known that. The long distance your suppre...

Ok, but the M16/9 is blowback operated. Are you saying that the bolt is light enough on it that the action is opening while there is still high pressure gas in the barrel? So following this logic that the heavier you could make the bolt in a M16/9 the quieter it would be. And why would the MP-5 be l...

Which type of autoloading action is the quietest in theory?

For instance, on a subgun, assuming equal calibers and barrel lengths, I am guessing that a locked breech is theoretically capable of being quieter than a blowback action. So an MP-5 or a TMP would be quieter than an uzi or a MAC using the same can, ammo, and BBL length. Is this true? On rifle cartr...
