Re: All else equal, more baffles or less?

On standard 60* cones, I feel like closer than 5/8" spacing really starts giving you diminshed returns. Caliber/bore size/vents/clips all matter but there is weight in the idea that at some point you are greatly reducing the amount of gas coming off of the centerline and reducing the amount of ...

Re: 556 can

Hello all. I am finally ready to break down and get a 556 can for my FNC. The FNC will have a thread adapter to 1/2-28, and it is full auto. The can will be used mostly semi-auto, but some full auto also. Durability? Cleanability? Mount? Any suggestions? Thanks again. Very few takeapart 556 cans if...

Re: 22 Blackbox vs 22 Osprey

The main problem with any rectangular can is how do you take it apart?

Everyone wants take-apart pistol cans and everyone also wants the silencer to weigh nothing so the box design in and of itself just isn't practical with today's market.

Re: Doc Dater says ti better than steel for heat, and more

Dater is usually pretty spot on except his love of 4100 series steel

Handyman got it though . . . oxidation becomes a problem when titanium starts getting really hot and most silencer guys ride them hard and put them up wet.

Good luck getting it to cycle at 6" . . . I guess if you only shoot suppressed you stand a chance.

Re: Now available DIY felony kit

Given the government/ATF's inclination to outright ban things they don't like, all it's going to take is a Dorner or some hitpiece on Nightly News/60 minutes to get them to ban this stuff just like the 7n6 5.45. You keep pushing the line and eventually the unregulated and unencumbered ATF will get i...

If you threaded the interior of the can and the exterior of the baffles you could screw them together. Could you unscrew them apart after your done shooting? AR 9mm's have terrible ejection port noise, so they sound louder to the operator than they actually are. I was quite happy with the...

Re: threading titanium tube for endcaps

Just FYI OP, Bendersquint is a 02/07 (correct me if I am wrong here bender) manufacturer and 99% of the time will tell someone the option that has zero chance of getting you into trouble which can be pretty good in the NFA world as the ATF is convoluted and filled with stupid law. However, if you ma...

Re: Which suppresses better in SAME gun--a 3.3" or 4.1" barr

there's not really hard and fast rules… in general the more powder that burns, the quitter it will be. BUT, it depends on the can quite a bit- some cans perform better with higher pressure (shorter barrel) and others with lower pressure (longer barrel). You'll have to test in combo with particular ...

When typing my post I just knew someone (dealer/rich guy) would post up that they trash their cans harder than ANYONE, etc etc. Didn't realize it would only take one post. Civilians beat cans harder than mil ever will. Really? How many silencers have you submitted for a military solicitation? The co...

What I am asking for is not different requirements, which seems to be what you and Robert posted, but about "innovation" - the act or process of introducing new ideas, devices, or methods. I do not see any new ideas, devices, or methods, on any military can that the commercial market did ...

Re: K baffles vs monocore design help

I haven't designed one nor have I seen a monocore design at the same length produce a smaller sound signature using supersonic rifle ammo than standard 60* cones (ported/clipped/whatever). The monocores I've done and others I've metered really show great gains when using subsonic ammo . . . not sure...
