Re: Barrel to Short

I've tried both. The problem isn't the piston, it's that the threaded part of the barrel isn't long enough to to shoulder on the piston without bumping into the bushing and pushing it out of battery. I'm thinking shaving the piston down will solve that as long as it's perfectly square.

Re: Barrel to Short

Same problem here. I was thinking of having the piston cut down (I have an extra 45 piston) until it didn't push against the bushing anymore. Is this a bad idea?

Re: Nano and Abraxas Success! Finally!

Your writing style is very hard to read. You might want to consider thinking about where paragraphs should go because not every statement needs it's own line. You seem to be misguided in that you need to put your own line breaks in, you do not. This forum and almost all others, ever, have word wrap...

Re: AAC CUSTOMER SERVICE REVIEW

Forgot to add that Cade also sent a f*ck that noise sticker in what has to be the coolest card stock envelope and card. It was white stock paper embossed with the AAC skull and crossbones. Best corporate calling card I ever saw. I hung it at my desk at work.

Re: Strange baffle wear on a tirant 45 update

Ok, just wanted to update this thread and let everyone know my customer experience with AAC. Mers himself contacted me and had customer service send me an rma # and ups shipping label. I took ME a while to send it back, which was the reason for such a delay in this thread. Once I sent it in, Cade Pa...

Strange baffle wear on a tirant 45

http://imageshack.us/a/img838/841/7u5c.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img24/1025/vdqq.jpg Was cleaning my tirant 45 yesterday and noticed some damage to the side port on the baffle and the baffle base was roughed up also. Is this enough to send it back for repair or should I keep on shooting? No idea w...

Re: How important is the o ring in the tirant 45 piston

Ok I revisited this again and it looks like it only needs to be shortened by about 1 1/2 turns of the piston. Looks like I can still keep the o ring. Any suggestions on which is better, grinding it down or having a machinist shave it off?

Re: How important is the o ring in the tirant 45 piston

Ok failing that, can anyone recommend a gunsmith who can fit a barrel to a slide and what's the average cost? If I can keep it under $150 I'll send it to the smith, if not I'm going to buy an extra piston and shave 1/4 " off it.

Bender, any opinions?

Re: How important is the o ring in the tirant 45 piston

Sounds like the main problem is wrong threaded barrel length. Fix that and all other problems go away. with 1911 pistols they make flush threaded barrels designed for comps.... probably got one like that. They lack the rear 1/8-1/4" of clearance behind the threading shoulder. Yep that's the pr...

Re: How important is the o ring in the tirant 45 piston

I guess what I'm asking is, can I chop 1/4 " off the bottom of the piston so it threads or screws all the way in without throwing the gun out of battery, effectively shaving off the o ring, and not blow my can up?

Re: How important is the o ring in the tirant 45 piston

I don't think so, the problem is the barrel is to short for the threads to bottom out/screw all the way in on the piston on the piston thread

How important is the o ring in the tirant 45 piston

I have been trying to suppress my .45 for about a year now, between waiting for a barrel to having it fit etc etc. I now have a barrel that works with the slide but is too short for the piston, meaning when fully screwed in to shoulder it pushes the slide out of battery. Seems like my choices are to...
