Subsonic cast bullets and cans.

I would like to know if would be acceptable to shoot a subsonic 190or 200 gr. cast bullet .308 load through a suppressor without concern for leading of the can. I have cast and shot my bullets well over half my life with gas cheeks and without. I have fired them through all my handguns as hard as a ...

Re: So, I want to get a lathe....

I will take this opportunity to plug for Grizzly Industrial. I took delivery of a replacement lathe, (G0709), in July and had the motor capacitors and motor wiring burn up in October. I called and sent pictures on Monday and had a motor at my shop ready to bolt on at 9:30 Thursday morning, and was r...

Having cans or parts of engraved.

Someone set me straight please. When I get my cans built before I fill out my form 2, I need to have them engraved. Being at this time I do not have engraving equipment someone else needs to do it. If I am correct they are going to have to be a manufacturer to even engrave, even the tubes only . If ...

Re: 10/22 with YHM Mite problem

I'll will have the barrel set back and rethreaded by another in that case. One dumb question though simply for the sake of asking. If I am not showing bullet strikes and such, how could the alignment cause an accuracy problem since the bullet is gone before the gasses are out of the muzzle. I apprec...

Re: 10/22 with YHM Mite problem

18" off has to be hitting something. Could be a hit and you just don't notice because the bullets are softer than the can? Any keyholing when the bullets hit paper? I did not notice any keyholing, and will check closer today. I have inserted a .2188 rod covered with a film of dykem, from the b...

10/22 with YHM Mite problem

I installed a YHM mite on a 10-22 barrel of which was threaded on a lathe and am having serious accuracy problems. Like it shoots 18" left, at 45 yards with the suppresor on. Screw it off and all is well. I also cannot tell the difference in the sound using regular .22's though subsonics are mu...

Re: What do you guys think of Liberty safes?

I have my second one now. I had a 32" Franklin and out grew it and sold it to my Cousin and got a Fatboy. I could not find a better deal, price, support, or warranty, apples to apples anywhere around. I would like to have kept my other one but did not want to tie up another room with one when I a...

Re: Bullet Lube for .308 Cast

Hey man thanks for the reply. In that case I will use some cheaper bulk jacketed bullets or such for subs as I ain't wild about stopping it up. That was my concern in using cast bullets. Thanks for the load info I'll give it a whirl. DAE

Bullet Lube for .308 Cast

I intend on using a 170 grain fp with gas check for a subsonic .308 load through a 7.62SD and was curious as to whether anyone had a preference to a bullet lube that may be cleaner than another. I use a harder blend, (needs heat), in all of my pistol pills. Way back I used some alox and some RCBS lu...

Flash Hider Temperature.

Was reading my brochure for AAC products a while ago and was looking at the photo of a flash hider that had been through a "torture test" and had deformed and broken. Was curious as to what temperature the exit gases at the muzzle of a rifle may be, ballpark. What is causing the horrendous...

Re: 30-06

The 30.06 is probably the parent cartridge of more rounds than any other in hsitory. In years back many peoples arsenal, consisted of a .22 rifle, a shotgun and if they were lucky a 30.06 that had been bought from surplus. So far as the .308 and the 06, the latter is better only in that it has a lar...

Re: Scope recommendation for .308 bolt gun?

I installed a Millett tactical series 4-16 on one I recently bought. Used 20 moa NF base and rings. Scope has clarity on par with some higher ends with quality looking to be good. Has side focus, of which is slightly stiffer to operate than I would like but maybe it will loosen some. Scope has posit...
