Re: Can I use an existing Trust for NFA Firearms?

MoHawk: I looked at this issue earlier this year. Yes, you can do it. A couple of things to keep in mind: 1. You're handing over a copy of your family's trust to the government. I got a second trust specifically just for NFA items. I prefer to keep my trust as private as possible. 2. It's a lot of p...

Re: Form 1 or 4...what reason do you list?

For my cans I put "hearing protection."

Re: Disposal of a Suppressor

Not that I’d get rid of one. . . ATF-p-5320-8 Page 21, paragraph. 2.5.1 Removal of machineguns and silencers from the scope of the NFA. Machineguns are defined to include the receiver of a machinegun and the definition of silencer includes each component of a silencer . Therefore, to remove these we...

Re: Suppressed or non suppressed out of a helicopter?

Most currently used military helicopters these days have two engines reducing the possibility of having to do an autorotation. Yes, forward airspeed and altitude are a pilot's friend.

Looks like a blast!

Re: Poll-Help me change the NFA

I would think to question why we pay a “special” tax instead of regular sales tax. If I buy a gun or gun parts I pay a sales tax just like I do when buying most other daily life items. A $500 suppressor and a state tax rate of 7% is a total tax of $35. They’re aligned with other purchases now. Adjus...

Re: Poll-Help me change the NFA

I'm just getting into NFA (waiting on stamps). I'm most annoyed by the 3-4 month wait for approval. Sure, I'd love also to see the tax go away, but I realize the current political reality. The $200 stamp was put there to be a barrior many years ago, and I'd hate to see it adjusted for inflation: ---...

Re: Full estate revocable living trust for NFA items (class

Gents:

I set up an NFA only trust and I’m now waiting for my stamps to show up. Much more comfortable with this than handing over a copy of my full family estate trust to the government.

Thanks for your input.

Re: So what made you want a suppressor in the first place?

Mainly hearing protection, but I have to admit there is a “coolness” factor. I managed to protect my hearing well for 20 years around Army helicopters, and want to keep protecting them. The idea of ending up in a self defense situation within the house with the blast confined anywhere near my daught...

Re: Gun Control founding father comment..

"Or the knuckleheads that say "Times have changed." Change our Constitution? An agenda will come with that. The Declaration of Independence: “Prudence, indeed, will dictate that governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes. . .” Some say there is n...

Re: Economists recommend banning high capacity magazines

"Banning high-capacity magazines strikes us as a common-sense policy change. . ."

And who’s ‘common sense’ would we use??? Sounds like an agenda.

Full estate revocable living trust for class 3?

Folks: I’m doing my research for my first diving into class 3 items. I’ve been looking at both the traditional way of filling out the ATF Form 4, as well as using my revocable living trust. My living trust is not just set up for firearms, but is my family estate trust. I am concerned about using it ...
