Re: "Hollywood Quiet" .22 host - barrel length questions...
FWIW, my browning t-bolt firing CCI SV subs with a sparrow sounds no louder than a pellet gun. The hammer hitting the firing pin makes more noise than the round does.

Re: SilencerCo Hybrid - some details (finally)
Why couldn't it have been user serviceable? One of the BEST things about big bore rifles is slingin lead, and removing baffles for a "dip" just makes things so much easier.

Ugh, why is user serviceable not an option. That one feature might kill my desire to buy this can.

Re: Chemistry Question: The "dip"
Been a long time since I took Organic, but most chemical reactions run to equilibrium, not necessarily completion IIRC. If so it would be safer to assume that some amount of lead acetate remains in solution even after precipitation with Epsom salt. Unless the potential energy of the reaction is eno...

Agreed, but generally those assumptions come from chemists and physicists......are you either? Mechanical Engineer, so maybe kinda? I would ask a chemist about this for a good answer. I have a customer that is a chemist I will pose it to and see what his response is. Awesome, thanks. :P

There is no ASSUMPTIONS when it comes to HAZMAT. If you don't have a means to dispose of HAZMAT materials you shouldn't be dealing with them. Eh, assumptions are used all the time in chemistry and physics. Agreed, but generally those assumptions come from chemists and physicists......are you either...

So if I am dunking my sparrow (just the core and the clamshells) in peracetic acid to remove lead buildup, about how much lead will it eat (I know this is volume controlled) before the reaction dwindles? If I were to put MgSO4 in the container with the can and the peracetic acid, would it harm the ...

Re: 3D Printed MonoCore - I (Pics heavy !)
Heck, print it with PLA and use an investment cast method to cast those baffles in something more durable? Overcast and then turn down for correct OD to fit in the sleeve. Only material I would suggest would be Aluminum, but if you can up your foundry skills, can do some stainless alloys.

Re: Sarcasm: So wait, if the Federal Government is shut down
That means BATFE is closed, right? So I don't have to ask their permission to make suppressors, full auto's, or short barreled guns? (kinda joking) Wouldn't it be wonderful if the law worked that way? The 2nd Amend. is to prevent a tyranical Gov't. So why do we need permission to purchase safety pr...

Re: SS Sparrow, Rust..
If you put the tube in the ultrasonic there is a good chance that the damage caused to the finish is what allowed the rust to take hold. The tube is not recommended placed in a US cleaner for this reason. The metal itself is strong enough but the finish will deteriorate rapidly when exposed to a US...

Re: Interest in Melonite treatment on Sparrow tubes?
I would like to point out that the SS Sparrow "handbook" actually RECOMMENDS the ultrasonic cleaning of the outer tube (which apparently causes outer can to oxidize through the coating) along with the rest of the suppressor parts, not recommending against it. This should be a process done ...

The tube is already mild steel, and the baffle / clamshell are both stainless.....Kramer wrote:That's fine for you, but many do not shoot enough to need the stainless tube or want the weight of a stainless can on their firearm, especially a pistol.

Re: 50 Beowulf subsonic project
How did you make the baffles? I can't tell if they were hydraulically pressed or CNC'd from a billet. Either way nice job. So the baffles welded together after you took that picture I take it? It's a non-serviceable sealed can? They kind of look like they were spun with the concentric wrinking in t...

Re: Interest in Melonite treatment on Sparrow tubes?
Interested. Would the labels / serials be re-lasered after the finish? I would hope it would make it easier to clean. I have a heck of time cleaning the caked squiggly lines of burnt gunk off the two split halves. Make the hydrogen peroxide / vinegar dip to eat away the lead deposits. Just make sure...

CCI Standard all day long. I do 1/2" groups at 50 yards all day long out of my browning t-bolt.
