Re: Help! Why are my 9mm always louder than my 300blk???
Almost all factory 9mm ammo is supersonic and the supersonic crack is loud. Have you tried any 147 grain subsonic in the 9mm cans yet?

Re: Disappointed in new can
You'll pick up higher dBs on the mic in an enclosed area for the same reason your ears do. No, the SPL at muzzle is no different, but we don't measure right at muzzle, nor do we put our ears there unless one is a complete moron. What is higher is the SPL at any distance from the muzzle when there i...

Re: Disappointed in new can
All I have is the American Eagle 124 subsonic and some Speer Lawman 147 subs. AE is s--t, Lawman is OK stuff. Stick to the Speer ammo if you're not gonna handload or buy boutique stuff like the hush. Shooting inside an enclosed room will make any suppressor "sound" louder. The reason is t...

Re: Disappointed in new can
Shooting inside an enclosed room will make any suppressor "sound" louder. The reason is that the brain senses that the sound duration is longer and it interprets that as louder. The duration of the sound is greater in an enclosure due to sound reflecting off the ceiling, walls, and floor. ...

Re: Elite Iron Ruger MKIII Integral Suppressed pistol
The seasonal CCI "Christmas Ammo" with the polymer coating that covers the whole bullet including the base should reduce the lead deposits to a minimum. Next range trip I will test this theory with 300 rounds and see if it is easier to disassemble. I finally got to the range and put 300 r...

Re: Elite Iron Ruger MKIII Integral Suppressed pistol
Have you had any problems with disassembly after gunking it all up? Yes. I try and clean it after every outing because if I do not I have a challenge with removing the baffles. A little oil soak and then a little warming (blow dryer) of the tube helps, but if it has seen too many rounds it is diffi...

Re: Elite Iron Ruger MKIII Integral Suppressed pistol
Very nice. It looks like they may not make them anymore -- at least I did not see them on their website. I agree with how nice the finish is -- I have one that is a couple of years older than yours, but essentially the same design with the slight exception of the front cap take-down wrench. I would ...

I enjoy my Elite Iron integrally suppressed Ruger MKIII. Can be completely disassembled for cleaning, is quite, and accurate.

Re: YHM Mite Rebuilds
I received my rebuilt Mite yesterday and got to try it out today. I have a very small collection (16) of .22lr cans and the Mite used to be next to the loudest one. It is now a very usable and much much quieter can. The turn-around time was right at a week.

Re: Gemtech Quicksand Question
I have a Gemtech Halo and enjoy using it on various 5.56 AR's with std. A1 or A2 flash suppressors (remember to use peel washers vs the crush washer). I do not have experience with the Quicksand but it will probably provide excellent service on BOTH 5.56 and .308 guns -- that is a real plus in terms...

ATF Ruling on repacking cans or the Chore Boy Menace
This ATF letter is dated Nov 26, 2010 but I searched and did not see it posted here. It might be of interest to folks since it seems to make repacking cans not something the end user can do. It still "exempts" wipe replacement from a making tax. http://www.examiner.com/gun-rights-in-nation...

Re: what suppressor to use with the 50 beaowolf
I had one built by SRT Arms. Worked well, but be aware that this is a big round and is supersonic in most loads -- therefore loud even with a suppressor. I did reload subsonic with 500gr and 600 gr bullets -- that was a hoot, but a rainbow trajectory. http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b25/Racer351/D...

Re: Silent Destroyer ??
The suppressor attached to the barrel in two locations. The outer tube seats on the barrel near the receiver and the inner tube is permanently attached to the shortened barrel. I am quite sure that he has to remove the barrel from the receiver to machine it -- shorten, crown, and prepare for attachm...

Re: Silent Destroyer ??
Condensation during shooting is a reality in the very large expansion chamber of the Silent Destroyer. I do not clean the baffles very often, but I always wipe out and lightly oil the outer tube after shooting. BTW -- Tom does not port the barrel -- it is short and permanently attached to the inner ...

Range Results on Beavercreek .22lr can
Finally got to the range today. The test mules were 5.5" Ruger MK II, and Browning Buckmark Camper. I alternated cans between guns to make sure that the gun didn't bias the result. I used Winchester Dynapoint for most of the testing but checked results with CCI Minimag. I ran the Beavercreek Sh...
