Re: Just finished my SKS project
No weight at all was added, in fact it shifts the weight back, so it handles much better, even with the a heavy silencer on it. I haven't fired it suppressed yet so I can't tell you how much it quiets it. The 7.62x39 is a loud round no matter what it comes out of, I gather it probably is just as lou...

Just finished my SKS project
I just finished my SKS project, and wanted to post some pics. I saw a pic of an SGworks kit about 2 months ago and got a major case of the gotta havits. I started looking for a SKS to mod and found one of the Century China Dolls at a gun show for $289 out the door. I got a lot of static for modding ...

I have one too, and agree with all of the above. Do not shoot it wet! I asked this question from YHM and they said a big no. It will void the warrenty

Re: My Suppressor came home today!!!!
Finally got the chance to use the suppressor yesterday, was too windy and stormy to do a proper range report, or sight the rifle in, but I wasn't about to not see how the Can sounded. Ok, first shot was on the Mosin, and what a huge difference, in both sound and recoil, I imagine the recoil reductio...

My Suppressor came home today!!!!
After 7 months of federal wait, I brought my YHM SS 7.62 home today. I can't wait to shoot it, I went around giggling like a schoolgirl putting it on all the rifles that will host it. I snapped a couple of shots of it on my Mosin Nagant project sniper rifle that I just compleated last weekend. Here ...

Re: Looking for the Silenced Mosin Video
That, YHM sounds really quiet on the Mosin, Mine hopefully will be cleared for pick up this month, and my Sniper project Mosin, has a 22 inch barrel. I like hearing nothing but sonic crack on this rifle!

Re: Why are suppressors so expensive?
consumers demand quality. Agreed and disagreed. Were suppressors deregulated, the lion's share of sales would go to companies who make discount cans. Most consumers demand low prices and reasonable durability, and if they can get it, they'll buy it. If people could buy $100 .22LR suppressors that w...

Re: Why are suppressors so expensive?
To be honest, I think that if suppressors were not regulated, it would even out. Without the long wait for approval, the amount of people that would buy them would skyrocket, U.S. companys would sell far more units and the price would come down. Yes eventually the chinese would start making them che...

Re: Several questions about supressed AR15 for home defense.
I formally recant my over-penetration statements about shotgun vs rifle. I have been shown the light and my assumptions were wrong. ... :D Be certain of your target(s), empty your magazine(s), reload and repeat as necessary. If I put a hole in one of my neighbors houses I have no doubt they will be...

Re: 7.62x39 frangible and subsonic
Thanks for the heads up on the bolt, I'll definatly pick up a new one for the 300blk, they are cheap and I would prefer to have it matched with the barrel especially dealing with the increased pressure of shooting it suppressed. Just eyeballed the crown and bore on the AK, and it looks ok, like I sa...

Re: 7.62x39 frangible and subsonic
NS, all this talk of non concentric factory threads on AK's had me paranoid, so yesterday I put the Die and TAT together and screwed it onto my AK. It screwed right on, and didn't even remove any of the bluing on them. So I'm assuming that my AK's threads are good to go. FWIW I also read over the we...

got a 1/2x 20 nut today to try out the fit. Went right on. perfect thanks Kevin. Really wanted it to be 1/2x28 but at least this is a common thread.

Re: Question
Too bad you are not local to me, otherwise as long as the OD of the barrel was the proper diameter, I'd say bring it over and I'd do it for you.
FWIW I intend on threading the barrel on a mosin Nagant with this same kit, and expect zero issues with that as well.

Re: Question
While I have not threaded an AK barrel, (mine was already threaded) I have put AK threads on my FAL so I could use cheap muzzle brakes for the AK on it and use the same YHM QD on both guns. I got a quality kit that included the proper TAT and did it myself. I did have to turn the FAL barrel down to ...

Re: Huntertown Arms Kestrel
Actually I'm 44 years old, little man. And was not regurgitating anything, just stating what most people who actually know what they are talking about already know. FWIW it was hoppe's 9 that I cleaned the CZ with and it did not remove salts. WD 40 does not dissolve salts, you likely just flushed ou...

Re: Huntertown Arms Kestrel
I was kind of wondering what having TWO AKSU's would make a difference in how much an authority he was on the subject. Perhaps he runs around akimbo with them or something. Wait a minute I'm thinking of Call of duty.......maybe he is thinking about his AKSU's on Call of duty too...LOL.

Re: Huntertown Arms Kestrel
Actually they are the ones that are correct for this subject, the best thing to clean an AK or any rifle after shooting corrosive is plain hot soapy water. The corrosiveness comes from salts that are left behind and nothing gets rid of salt better then water. The hotter the water the better too, bec...

Re: Question
Measure the outside diameter of the barrel. If you want to thread it for AK threads it is 14x1 LH and you can easily buy a kit that includes a TAT to thread the barrel. To use the kit the outside diameter needs to be .551 if the barrel is thicker then that you will need to either turn the barrel dow...

I measured the outside diameter of the threads and it was .49 or 12mm. I was just wondering if Kevin got the thread from a source that listed the AP 80.

Threads on AP 80
Hi all, had a quick question. I have a Jager AP 80 (AK 22) and removed the barrel's thread protector for the first time yesterday. I'm considering suppressing it. I was wondering what the threads are on it, I was hoping they would be 1/2 x28 but I believe they are metric since the rifle was made in ...

Re: Four month wait?
I just got my paperwork sent off to the BATF today, my plan is to try and just forget about the suppressor, so when it comes back in June or July it will just be a nice suprise. I don't think it does any good to torture yourself, by thinking about it everyday. Doing that will just make it feel like ...

So why can it not be shot wet? any special reason?
ok, I don't think I'll bother shooting any .22 out of it then.
