Another project completed (pistol and can)
I had an interesting little project come along recently, a guy wanted a longer barrel on the Walther (needs to be over 4" here in NZ to shoot and this was 3 7/8"). So we thought we would make it more interesting by going longer but adding a thread for a can. So first thing was to get the o...

Re: Tube materials for rifle-caliber monocore
Enfield577 - This definitely helps. Especially considering I'm still prototyping - it looks like I'm not thinking completely unreasonably! Don't know if this helps and its not a monocore but I have a good quality can here for 308, made from an Aluminium alloy (cant find what), this is the blast cha...

Re: Tube materials for rifle-caliber monocore
Don't know if this helps and its not a monocore but I have a good quality can here for 308, made from an Aluminium alloy (cant find what), this is the blast chamber section and wall thickness measures to be 0.100".....I buy and fit a lot of these cans so know they are good quality and well desi...

Re: Welrod copy
Brother Enfield, so nice to see you again and seeing that you are generously sharing your skill and craft. Inspiring as usual. A treat coming back to this site which has cleaned up so beautifully. Best, my friend. Thanks for the welcome back, seems a bit quieter than the old days but still a bit go...

Re: 8.6 Blackout
Yea it was my thoughts as well to make shims to time the can at different angles. Anyway the guys have done more testing and been in touch with the US barrel maker, it seems that changing the projectile seating depth has had a hugely beneficial effect. Tomorrow they are dropping and want me to make ...

Re: 8.6 Blackout
have you considered possibly an overbore that may be too tight for 8.6 sized bullets (what is a maker bullet?) in combination with a substantial level of barrel whip? heavy ass 8.6 slugs spinning 1in3 has got to subject the barrel to lots of forces. just my initial thoughts. Thanks for the reply, y...

Re: Welrod copy
Would have been a couple of hundred or so all up. I am a bit pedantic with such things so everything is with about 0.005” of the original. There was a lot of special tooling made to get things exact, for example on the underside of the trigger where the tube is flattened it could just be quizzed in ...

Welrod copy
Here is another one I made a while back, this was just a none firing model copied (exactly) from my original to work out the process and tooling etc. Took many, many hours but was an interesting project and at least I have the potential to make a working copy one day if I ever get round to it and ca...

Re: 22 rimfire- Omega vs Cones vs K's
Hi, I have tried a few different designs for 22 and find ks by far the best, I find around 23mm dia. and 7 baffles about the best with the first two baffles having 1/4" bore then the remainder 7mm bore. I have fitted a few of these to the Ruger pistols , and only port the barrels if you want to...

Re: 8.6 Blackout
Hey guy nice to see you post. I know your work is above reproach so lets cut to the chase. The chances are the bore passage is to tight. Open up the muzzle cap and if that dose not work the baffles are next. Hi Mate, We must catch up by email again. Read in conjunction with reply to other chap abov...

Re: 8.6 Blackout
That grouping makes no sense - even if the bullets lack concentricity. Have you chrono'd the rounds? What results do you get shooting the same bullets/loads in an unsuppressed gun? or removing the suppressor from that one? How does it manage "factory loads"? Yea a lot more looking into th...

Suppressed 410....with photos :-)
A few phots of my latest suppressed 410, built on a Rossi, the barrel is extensively ported and an internal system of baffles and elements such that you just used standard 2 1/ or 3 shells and it drops the velocity to sub-sonic and suppresses it to sound similar to a well suppressed 22 running sub-s...

Re: Design pressure for rimfire suppressor?
I did an experiment here (In New Zealand), making a little K baffle can for 22LR where I kept turning down a band on an aluminum can then shooting it, the wall thickness actually got down to about 0.010" before it finally failed so no great pressure going on in there.
Cheers

8.6 Blackout
Hi Gents, Not been about on here for a while but as a bit of background have built a great many cans here in New Zealand (so no ATF issues here). We have just started playing with 8.6 and solid copper Maker projectiles running subsonic, I built an over barrel K baffle can with my 7 of my standard 9m...

Re: MP5 SD Details
Interesting results, I took it out over the weekend and found that with 147Gr projectiles accuracy was poor at around 4" group at 25 yards, though this got better as more rounds were fired (I don't know maybe it wore burrs from the ports or something) But this ammo was subsonic and soooo quiet,...

Re: MP5 SD Details
Thanks for those kind words, this one is a cool little toy. If It would only drop standard ammo to sub sonic that would be the icing on the cake.
All the best

Re: MP5 SD Details---Update
Hi Gents, I tried the MP5 style porting though the nearest I can get to the chamber is 60mm (not like the suggested 30 or so). With this set up it is super quiet with subs, you really just hear the hammer drop but standard 115 gr high velocity is still supersonic, I even added another two rows of ho...
