Remind me whenever we can hook up, and I'll bring you a Tuffer Buffer.
They're all I use now; a little more give than delrin and would probably help quiet the action.

Re: Threading question
Unfortunately, the best answer is 'maybe'. Personally, I'd practice like crazy at cutting the threads single point via the lathe's gearing, if its still in good shape. Taps aren't likely to give you the fit and tolerances needed to make sure the can is square to the bore...Not saying it WON'T work, ...

Re: Evo9 or 9S?
For a dedicated HD pistol (I'd rather have an SBR, but we covered that elsewhere...), I think the 9S would be an excellent choice. I'd get a (insert favorite 9mm here), get a threaded barrel for it, and mount up the 9S. Test it with your preferred ammo and ablative medium, make sure you have confide...

Re: .22 keyholing at 3 yards
I'm not convinced it is a bad crown. I'd go with a heavily leaded barrel. Its a PITA to deal with, but there are several 'how-tos' on getting lead out of a barrel. Disassemble it, look at the rifling (with a good light). If it isn't crisp and easy to see the lands/grooves, I'd say you've shot enough...

FWIW, there is a forum here specifically for these questions...and all of what you're asking has been hashed out, re-hashed, and answered before over there. Check out the 'Silencersmithing' forum and sniff around. Lots of good info, and lots of folks that love to help. (a few that like to give out w...

Re: Another suppressor, or use one of my suppressed ARs for
Personally, I'd say SBR an AR, suppress it, and use that. I'd look long and hard at barrier penetration by caliber and assess your specific needs depending on layout, others in the house, vulnerability of neighbors, etc. If you're not comfortable with pistols, stick with what you know. There is a re...

Re: Multi duty can (243 WSSM can on a 22 cal.)?
If max suppression is the goal, stuff as many baffles as possible in that tube. Clip them symmetrically, and adjust the zero as needed on your rifle. Thanks, MCKNBRD! By symmetric, are you recommending to just make sure the the "U" on each cone is symmetrically cut on that cone? Obviously...

Re: 762-SDN-6 vs SR-7 ???
The SR7 and the SDN-6 are similar performers. With the 90T mount, the SR7 tends to lock up without the wiggle that the 51T has. Huge difference? Nah. SR7 is a couple of tenths of an ounce lighter. Huge difference? Nah. I think, performance wise, its a wash. The biggest difference? It's new. Both are...

Re: Multi duty can (243 WSSM can on a 22 cal.)?
Bottom line: more baffles work the gas better. Clipped baffles work the gas best. If max suppression is the goal, stuff as many baffles as possible in that tube. Clip them symmetrically, and adjust the zero as needed on your rifle. If you're going to use it on the .243WSSM, I'd venture to guess you ...

Re: Please review/critique my Form 1 design
Regarding the 'consensus' that stepped cones are best, I'd say that most manufacturers would disagree. If you look at most of the more recent builds, you'll see that smooth, clipped 60* cones are more popular, and work perfectly fine. They're easier to make, work better, and tend to be lighter than ...

It's going to cost you $60 for the part just about anywhere, I fail to see where AAC is responsible for giving you a part that they no longer make, that you lost. That one's on you, just buy a new tool and 550 cord it to something big so you don't lose it again and be done with it. if you actually ...

Re: AAC Micro 7 Feed issues.
Sounds like a feeding control issue; the tail of the round is being released before the tip can get to the feed ramp. I'd say call Remington/AAC about it and get it sent in. Seems like the Micro 7s have had a bit of an issue with feeding, but nothing I've seen has been exactly like you mentioned. If...

Re: AAC Micro 7 Feed issues.
More info is needed...what kind of 'feed issues'? Factory or reloads? What brand of ammo? What kind of bullet nose? How are you cycling the bolt (slowly and smoothly, or aggressively)? How many rounds through your rifle? Lots of info is needed before anyone can chime in with an answer. Even then, it...

Re: Best way to quiet 10/22 action?
There are several bolt locks out on the market...but for quieting the action, a good bolt buffer is hard to beat. I prefer the 'Tuffer Buffer', but have seen several that work well. Regarding your question about metering, what a can meters and how the system sounds are two completely different thing...

Re: No FRP 22 rimfire cans?
FRP is typically a function of blast chamber volume and baffle design. Larger blast chamber? More FRP. Monocore? Typically more FRP. As with all things in the suppressor world, there are exceptions. I was amazed with Matt's Dagger .22 can; First Round was about .2db louder than the rest, IIRC. Shot ...

Re: 762-SD versus 762-SDN-6 ... which is quieter?
What it meters at and what you can tell at the ear are two completely different things. As I understand it, the SDN6 has an advantage with regards to less backpressure, size, and weight; the sound differences are maybe 2-3 db. You won't notice the backpressure changes on your bolt gun; size and weig...

Re: .22 Mag through an AAC 556-SD?
Typically, rimfire rounds through a sealed can are a no-no. I doubt it would blow the can up, but if you shot enough through it, I'd imagine you could have a lead buildup issue that might cause problems the next time you put full-throttle centerfire rounds through it.

Re: NEED ADVICE ON BARREL1022 SELECTION FOR SUPRESSER
Well, the 10/22 is plenty accurate out of the box, as you've found. A decent gunsmith can thread the stock barrel, if you just want to keep costs minimal. If you want to keep the stock sights, it adds a little complication, but its not a bridge too far. The only issue is that the 10/22 comes in vari...

Re: New to suppressors would like help in getting educated
Probably the best way to 'understand' how they work is to crawl through the posts in the Silencersmithing forum & look at the pics, read the questions and answers, and try to visualize what happens inside a suppressor as the bullet uncorks from the barrel. Keep it simple at first; just look at r...

Re: AAC 762 SDN-6 ..... which 308/7.62 rifle?
Interesting. I'd think the difference in thread length (.054") could be taken up by a properly machined short spacer that could also act as a larger bearing surface for the mount. I guess its just the variation in manufacturing that you have when you thread with the intention of using a flash h...
