Re: 22 freeze/expansion plug suppressor

Just an update. Its been 10 years and this 5.56 can is still just as good as the day it was made. Just ran 1000 rounds through it Saturday. A mix of M855/SS109 and IMI 69 grain ammo. Only had 2 mags so it was shoot and reload. was an all day event and this can was used at different periods of the da...

Re: IMR4227 supersonic BLK

update. I am back to loading this again. I asked the same question on a few sites and got no actual answers other than posts quoting internet guru's who were quoting other internet guru's. searching today I have found some original posts (not people quoting) using 18 to 18.7 grains of 4227 with a 13...

Re: Ruger Mark III Integral - Blued Barrel Ok?

I did mine on a blued barrel. cut the barrel shorter and turned it down and threaded the end then re blued it. been alot of years and I have had the tube off to clean it 2 times and there was no rust or other problems with the barrel. I did a reflex integral so the barrel is in the blast chamber and...

Re: 22 freeze/expansion plug suppressor

Hi Sub-sonic I am about to do a home build for use on a ruger bolt action in 300 blackout, subsonic ammo only. I have some 2" SS tube and have found the correct size freeze plugs for it. I was intending to follow the build you did for the 308 suppressor but then I thought the 300 blackout is only a...

IMR4227 supersonic BLK

so I am loading 130 grain bullets in the BLK and I have lots of 4227. I searched for load data and get conflicting information. IMR site says start load is 18 and max is 19.2 so I load up 18.5 and go see what happens and its a good load. primers look good and all is ok. velocity is 1945fps from a 10...

Re: Porting a barrel for a reflex design?

personally I dont like drilling into the bore/rifling. I think its better to counter bore the barrel to make it a smooth bore in the area to be ported. drilling ports is a smiple matter of using a sharp drill and steady pressure. dont force the drill. then use an end mill thats larger than the drill...

Re: Improvement suggestions for this monocore?

Well that would be silly. If you're chucking the monocore, why fill the tube with crappy washers? K baffles well designed and executed will deliver much more efficient suppression than any monocore, and certainly better than any freeze plugs. flat washers spaced 3/8" apart would do far better than ...

have him make another end cap and chuck that monocore away and pack the tube with freeze plugs or quiet washers or cones and go with a .250 hole

Re: Sound suppression w/ direct thread vs threaded muzzle brake

if you use a decent brake that directs the gas sideways into the expansion chamber on a reflex style can you will get some benefit. like this one

but if you use some pseudo wanabe brake then well you are waisting your time.

Re: Freeze Plugs vs Valve Spring Retainers

I find this strange because I run my 5.56 can on a 16" barrel and always use SS109 FMJ and dont have this problem and I am into the thousands of rounds. The rifle is actually on its 3rd barrel and I run my 30cal can on a 18" FAL and a 16" SKS with surplus mil ammo and subs and on a bolt 7.62x39 with...

Re: Freeze Plugs vs Valve Spring Retainers

There was premature wear on the Freeze plugs cans I have seen personally, specifically separation on the face during the first 80 rounds on one, and wear to point that baffle strikes started happening on another around 400rds. can you explain the wear that caused the strikes did the holes wear smal...
