Re: Element 2 question

Where did you get this information from? If this was the case there would be a lot more problems with them unscrewing you would think. The production manager at the time thought it would be a good idea to not use primer for the thread locker as it slowed down production too much (3 seconds) That is...

Re: Element 2 question

The production manager at the time thought it would be a good idea to not use primer for the thread locker as it slowed down production too much (3 seconds) That is why element end caps and tirant piston housings are coming loose. Really? At what rate are these things flying off the shelves? I mean...

Re: Any reviews on Sig srd22?

How about the spd22? Why is there so little info about sig22 cans? Because they are newish and there are not many out in the wild. I've shot the srd22 on a few occasions and it sounded good. It's a pretty high-volume can so the tone is nice and low. They seem to come apart pretty easily and the baf...

Re: Buyer beware of Advanced Armament/an ongoing experience

They've had the M4A1 contract since 2012, worth up to $180M. Off-topic, but that contract award was protested by Colt and taken away from Rem. Also, agree on the bigger picture... it's not encouraging the way Rem has run AAC (seemingly) into the ground in a couple short years. From one of the leadi...

Re: Damn the man Promo Everything constantly out of stock?

I blame Remington more so than AAC in the grand scheme of things. They were forced to move. I still daydream of what if Sig had bought out AAC instead  AAC IS Remington. It's just another room in the new giant factory sharing people among other Rem companies. Sig hired a chunk of AAC people an...

Re: Are Piston semi-autos hearing safe at ear?

port noise is from any and all gas escaping rearward. Piston guns have plenty of gas escaping out of the chamber once they unlock, any sound decrease from not having a gas tube is made up for by the extra noise coming from the gas block/piston where the gas escapes. In my experience, piston guns are...

Re: Another Variation on "short 5.56 suppressors"

Thanks for the info on the mini 4, it is certainly very attractive. How do you like the QD mount? I've been told maany don't find it secure enough? I am not looking for specs but experience like yous. There is a large difference between saying "this is what I've seen with this or these cans" (like ...

I've dealt with Gemtech customer service on several occasions and have had nothing but great service every time. I wonder why people add some comment about customer service when they have never had any FIRST HAND experience? You will hear the same crap about AAC which has gone out of there way to c...

Re: Another Variation on "short 5.56 suppressors"

In addition to meeting the length requirement, I am looking for a suppressor that is: -Full auto rated (mag dumps will not happen often, but will happen). -Quite enough for HD, at least to the point where I am not concussed. -Suppresses enough flash to not be spitting fireballs after the first roun...

Re: Best .223 can

The new Sig 5.56 Ti cans are the best-sounding 5.56 cans i've ever used. I can't speak to the long term performance or any of that, but I was very surprised by my initial experience. Also, there are many more factors to consider than just those two. Look at (in no order): - sound - cost - size - wei...

Re: Shortest, lightest silencer for SBR in 5.56?

So if a hearing safe silencer is a no go for a 5.56 SBR AR, the entire point of adding a suppressor to an SBR is to reduce the muzzle blast and concussion at some tolerable level with ear pro and to reduce the possibly not going instantly deaf from having to fire one indoors in a self defense encou...

Re: Shortest, lightest silencer for SBR in 5.56?

... Mike is not being dishonest, nor is any of the manufacturers or users that you've seen shoot without ear pro. But, what everyone has told you here is true- 5.56 is not quiet suppressed and will cause damage with repeated exposure. It gets a good bit worse with SBRs, and worse again with smaller...

Re: Shortest, lightest silencer for SBR in 5.56?

He wanted 'hearing safe', with: - An AR. - chambering 2.23 - That's SBR'ed - With a short can It isn't 'decibel queen' to point out that this is going to happen. It isn't like people are with-holding the answer because we're nit-picking his wording or picking on him because he's 'the-new-guy'. It's...

Re: Shortest, lightest silencer for SBR in 5.56?

In other words, you are stating there is no current SBR 556 rifle that can be effectively quieted to by any 9 inch current production can 5.56 or 30 cal version to a hearing safe level (140 db) to shoot outdoors without risking permanent hearing damage. Correct. The noise from the gas system/ejecti...

Re: Illusion 9 Baffle martial and other questions

It sounds like an Evo with a tool required piston. that's what it is. And it does seem most manufs are going away from real testing and numbers... but FWIW, that is OK because manufacturer's numbers have always been skewed and comparisons of numbers and videos from different sources is beyond usele...

Re: Suppressor for MPX

I appreciate that first-hand experience. It also explains an oddity that I've seen in the MPX forums -- that some people are reporting the MPX to be a relatively quiet shooter even without the can. Mind you, they just mean "relatively" as in "compared to other un suppressed 9mm handguns". That said...

The Element isn't officially rated for 5.7, and as compared to the Sparrow, the Sparrow's "baffle" walls in the moniker are a lot thicker than the baffles in the Element.

Performance is going to be closer (the same) to the Evolution since it is a 1.25" design versus the larger diameter (volume) of the Ti-RANT. blast baffle is stainless, the others are aluminum. I ASSume they are hard anodized since all of AAC's alu baffles have been hard anodized for at least the pas...
