Re: My first milling machine!
I've actually never used vise keys, you can get pretty quick at tramming vises with an indicator. I've never used a swivel base either, and I hate speed handles. Don't know why really, they just annoy me, seems like they're always in the way. I'll second the recommendation for getting good quality e...

Nah, you're forgetting thread grinding, threadmilling, and EDM tapping.bakerjw wrote:IMHO... The only reliable way to thread is single point threading on a lathe.
Sorry, he said "unassailably", so I had to.

Re: Suppressing 9x23 Win
Yeah, the uncorking pressure of 9x23 should be around 30-40% more than 9mm +P. I've got the booster mostly figured out.

Re: Tungsten as a Baffle Material in rifle suppressors
I think most of the responses about tungsten are confusing the metal itself with tungsten carbide. Tungsten carbide is extremely hard, brittle, and nigh impossible to machine. Pure elemental tungsten is around 30 HRC, you can cut it with a file. If it's pure enough, it should be ductile, not brittl...

Suppressing 9x23 Win
I'm planning on making a 9mm suppressor. I've got a 1911 that's going to get a rebarrel in 9x23 Winchester, so I'd like the can to be able to put up with the sort of pressure that round is capable of. Now I don't plan on firing full-power 9x23 through it very often, and I don't expect it to be terri...

Re: Suppressing the Makarov
Another thought. If your friend's silencer worked well, maybe save up and buy one just like it. You know it works, so maybe buying one will scratch the itch. I could do that, but it's simply not the way I want to go about it. I would almost always rather make something than buy it. I make my own gu...

Re: Suppressing the Makarov
Ah yes, that's one thing I forgot to mention: when I used the Trident wet, I got sprayed in the face quite a lot. As such, I would like the can to be at least hearing safe dry, hence the large diameter. I might scale that back to 1.375" if it's likely to work. Is enlarging the blast chamber act...

Re: Suppressing the Makarov
Blow back guns are no problem you must choose you can wisely wipes will in-cress your back pressure and your ejection port noise. Some suppressors also create this condition.... I'm already convinced it will work, and I would have assumed that different suppressors work differently. That's the point...

Suppressing the Makarov
Greetings. This is my first post here, likely of many. I recently acquired a Russian commercial Makarov with an aftermarket barrel chambered in 380ACP and extended with 1/2-28 threads. I would like to suppress it. Now, everything I've read tells me that this won't work very well due to the gun being...
